This may be the sweetest, most romantic elopement session ever. And the fact that it’s set in the super scenic Emerald Lake in Canada, makes it beyond beautiful. I’m totally head over heels smitten with these photos from Eric Daigle that truly capture the love between the adorable bride and groom. The row boat, the vistas, the poofy dress, I’m in wedding blogger heaven! Click here for even more.

As my fiance, Harold Todd Chapman, is an avid hiker and outdoors man we decided to have a low-key mountain elopement. Minimal fuss but magnificent beauty captures the essence of our day. I scoured the internet for potential sites for our ceremony and found myself enchanted by the glacier fed lakes of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The colors, trees, and awe-inspiring mountain-scape lingered until it took permanent root in my mind: this is it! And so these two Detroiters made our way north, to the gorgeous mountain landscape.
No need to pack additional decorations – Emerald Lake provides abundant natural beauty. Emerald Lake Lodge staff, specifically Tina Barz, helped me to set up an elopement package that included a romantic lake-view room with a wood burning fireplace and balcony, a local mistress of ceremonies who guided us through the vow process, delicious breakfasts and dinners, our own wedding cake, and our flowers.
On June 16th, 2011, the rains had set in early that morning. I drove to Banff where Stephanie Roy performed her miracles with my hair and make-up. We used Joan from the tv show Mad Men as our red-head hair inspiration. As we arrived back at Emerald Lake Lodge the rain stopped and the sun started to shine – just in time for the arrival of our energetic and inspiring photographer, Eric Daigle. Eric made the photo session incredibly fun and spontaneous! The impromptu row boat was my fiance’s idea – which only added to the romantic feel of our day. I tried to juxtapose the soft, billowing Mori Lee wedding gown against the natural beauty of our surroundings. Minor shoe changes, from lovely Badgley Mischka pumps to Hunter Red Boots drew plenty of smiles from those around us and emphasized our fun side! I made our wooden sign props for a touch of whimsy. The Groom’s Calvin Klein suit and tie meshed perfectly with my dress. Overall, a perfect elopement! I can’t wait to return to Emerald Lake Lodge for many anniversaries to come!
