When I was younger, Anne of Green Gables was my ultimate hero. At a very young age, I would have probably up and run away to Prince Edward Island if that meant I could meet her and her beau – the dreamy Gilbert Blythe – and live next to the Lake of Shining Waters. To me, that little island was just full of magic. I feel that little piece of background is needed before I enter a full on gush fest for this bey-ond perfect PEI photo shoot designed by Cheryl of 5 Words Design and shot by Rachel Peters Photography. The sophisticated, yet rugged styling of everything from the cakes by City View Bakehouse to the florals by Hearts and Flowers to the make-up by Michelle Cudmore to all the little details coordinated by Kiss the Bride make for an absolutely giddy blogger. I know someone who will be spending a large part of the day in the full gallery of images – little ol’ me.

From Rachel Peters Photography…Prince Edward Island, or PEI as it’s commonly known, is Canada’s smallest province nestled on Canada’s east coast. PEI has developed a reputation for its natural beauty of rolling hills, red rocks, ocean waves and famous red soil. PEI is home to many rural seaside communities and Charlottetown, the birthplace of Confederation, is the largest urban area. Islanders themselves are what give this natural wonder its character. We embrace our talents, we share what we love and we are proud of who we are. We know our neighbors and we support them. We embrace each other. We stick together.
For our Inspiration Shoot, we were looking for the right mix of elements that would capture what makes our Island so special. We knew we needed the right couple and found just that in Cam and Laura Jane who have chosen PEI as their new home. Both young professionals from British Columbia, Cam and Laura Jane were looking for an adventure. Throughout their relationship they travelled extensively visiting various spots in the world. On a whim, they were decided to travel to PEI. They instantly fell in love with the charm of the Island and the locals that immediately welcomed them with open arms. After that trip, they decided to call PEI home, picking up their belongings and making a life in PEI. Since then, they have not looked back on their new life on picturesque PEI.
Part of what makes PEI a great destination, is that we have immediate access to so much local flavour. We demonstrate on a daily basis the importance of a local food movement. We buy seafood from our fishing wharf, we visit farmers among their crops, and we support our weekly farmers market. And that’s what we did for this shoot. With such great sources available to us, we celebrated with an authentic Island oyster bar, a menu full of Island chowder and lobster, PEI sweet treats and PEI potato chips for late night snacking. It is so easy to access these delicacies, where we know that the flavour is always there and we are not breaking any budgets in doing so.

So very beautiful! this is probably the best style shoot that I have ever seen.
I am not just saying it because I used to vacation in PEI summer after summer either, or the fact that Jennifer is a member of WPIC. Great work to all involved :)

One of my very favorite places in the world. I spent 2 weeks there, just soaking up its beauty, and following in Anne's footsteps :) Thank you for this shoot! I wish I could get married there, sigh.

Beautiful pictures, incomparably beautiful Island, everything that a girl dreams of! I know when it comes time to plan my renewal of vows ceremony, I won't have to. I'm calling Kiss The Bride. And Rachel Peters Photography is out of this world! So excited to get started, and so glad I read this blog! Thanks SMP :)
I absolutely adore this shoot! The natural color tones offset the seaside hues and copper accents just perfectly. I too dreamed of moving across Canada to marry Gilbert Blythe... The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be visiting PEI and Green Gables in just a few weeks! Can't wait to see what sort of reception PEI gives the newly weds!
Beautiful photos. Kind of confused by the invitations though - why do they say Julie & Matt? Isn't this couple Laura-Jane & Cameron?
beautiful gallery! the details are stunning! great work by the creative team and the photographer! can't wait to visit the island some day!
What is left to say??? This is a beautiful place and the wonderful people are what make it special. Your photos are just awww so cute, details are magnificent, and accents dazzling.
The pictures are beautiful and the make up is very good - not over powering - very natural. This is a beautiful place (PEI) and I am very proud to be living her on PEI. Your photos are very nice, love them all.
These pics capture the ease, the moment and the beauty of PEI and the talent(s) that made these photos happen!
LOVE the hair!
This is a gorgeous shoot and such a beautiful backdrop!!
I luuuurve PEI!! Abby... like you, I was obsessed with Anne & Gilbert, so had to visit there on my travels!! Such a beautiful part of the world and this shoot is just stunning!!
Such talent on PEI, beautiful pics. Well done by all.
Congratulations on your marriage! Sharon J just told me today that you and Cameron were recently married! I'm so happy for you both! Your photos are absolutely amazing and you look as beautiful as ever! Love the lashes, hair, dress, and the layered pearls! Fantastic photos, but they had beautiful subjects to work with! I didn't know you loved Anne as much as I do! Funny that I learn that 3 1/2 years AFTER you leave! I am so happy that your life has turned out so amazingly wonderful! I think of you often and oftener and am so proud of everything you are accomplishing. I remember when "this" was all just a dream and now look.....re-aaaaa-li-ty! Hadn't been on your blog in awhile and am intrigued that it has gotten even better!! Wishing you all the best now and forever.......lovingly, adoringly, your friend Trina! xoxo
I went to Prince Edward Island 9 years, gee... 10 years ago now as a graduation gift from my mom. Just me and her, we spent a week or two there, just exploring the Island. We drove on every scenic route, back road, Anne of Green Gables or Road or Avonlea/Avonlea landmark, and anything Lucy Maud Montgomery I could find. I even met one of her descendants at one of the farms- she gave me a book I had been unable to find in the states. It was one of the most beautiful vacations I've ever had, and I'll never forget it. I would love to go back, and I actually seriously considered going to college there at UPEI... I wonder how differently my life would have turned out if I had...
Simply Awesome!!! I can't believe that it took me 4 months + to find this page. If you don't object I would like to write a post about your shoot on my "Hidden Island Paradise" blog. Congrats to all for a job well done.
Smiles :)
