Rustic Italian Olive Branch Winery Wedding

For these high school sweethearts who wanted that perfect sunlit Cali vibe set in the hills, they sure nailed it with their rustic al fresco fete planned by Venus Event Design. Pops of peachy pink dot the florals from The Little Branch in the form of garden roses and proteas, while La Tavola dressed the tables in their breezy linens. onelove photography stole every sweet moment with their lens and tucked it away right here for our viewing pleasure.

From the beautiful Bride…Scott and I met over 10 years ago in high school! We didn’t have a cute high school sweetheart story but it was what seems a very serendipitous twist of events with friends of friends that led us to each other in San Francisco over New Year’s Eve over pizza three and a half years ago and we’ve been by eachother’s side ever since.

When we got engaged the very first thing we decided on was that no ifs ands or butts, we were going to do everything outdoors. We love hiking, camping and just being outside where we grew up (a small fairly rural town outside of Los Angeles) so we wanted the brushy hills, big trees and sunshine for the setting for our I do’s. After some driving up the coast we landed at the perfect spot in Templeton. As much as we love the beauty of being tucked against the hills with the open night we also wanted to be sure our guests felt like they were at a special dinner party with little pieces of our history tucked into the evening, so we enlisted an amazing helping hand in the planning process—Hana Malek of Venus Event Design. Hana helped bring this vision to reality by bringing in soft vintage pieces, and many glam touches. We also knew that onelove photography was our “go to” for capturing our special day. Molly and Margaret did an amazing job with our photos and we can’t thank them enough.

Music was super important to Scott and I, so we decided on a band which I initially was nervous about, but having live music was without question the best decision we made as far as the party went. From the start of our planning process Scott and I agreed as long as we had a packed dance floor of family and friends anything could go wrong and we wouldn’t notice or care for that matter!

My favorite moment from the wedding– that’s hard! We crowd surfed thanks to our rowdy friends egging us on! We were on cloud nine. Also, although this wasn’t a moment per say, but I loved how Venus Event Design was able to incorporate so many personal touches about our love story into the night without it seeming too obvious. I love subtleties that have meaning (we had my late grandmothers hankies sewn into my gown, antiques of my grandparents used as decor around the venue, French macarons in vintage compotes around the reception — which Scott used to propose, and we closed the night out with a late night pizza bar which is how Scott and I first hit it off!)

Word of advice to brides planning a wedding, especially one outdoors where all vendors must be brought in because they aren’t provided by venue: if budget permits a planner, this will save you so much time in doing research and comparing and contrasting different packages. Regardless of if you’re doing it on a budget or have a million bucks to spend, take a second and breathe! Don’t get too caught up in the speed bumps, it’s inevitable, not every vendor is going to be available on your date, the dreamy china might be out of reach due to cost, the late night food truck might not fit on venue’s driveway (my silly bridal let down). The minute you wake up on your wedding day, see your family, best friends and your groom nothing else matters. It’s crystal clear that it’s a day all about love and happiness as cheesy as that may sound. You could be wearing a potato sack and the wedding could be at the McDonalds down the street- take a sip of a mimosa and go have a blast!

The whole weekend of our wedding was total perfection and went off without a hitch thanks to our stellar team- big thank you to our amazing coordinator Hana, onelove photography team, and our amazing family and friends who made our day an absolute dream.

Romantic Mint + Blush Vineyard Wedding

Mint and blush will forever be a recipe for happiness here on SMP, and today’s version from Michael & Anna Costa Photography might just go down in the books as one of my fave. I’m enamored with the BCBG bridesmaid dresses that pair so perfectly with the Bride’s Lazaro dress from JLM Couture, I adore the hints of pink rose from Bloomers Floral Design scattered throughout and did you see those pink sweetheart table chairs?! Best part? There’s sooo much more in the gallery!

From the beautiful Bride… When Josh and I got engaged in the middle of winter we knew we wanted a summer wedding but didn’t want to wait over a year to get married so we decided to plan a wedding in just 7 months. Thanks to our hands-on families we were able to pull it off. I wanted a small romantic intimate wedding and Josh wanted a big classic party so we chose something in between and it couldn’t have turned out more perfect!

It was love at first site when we visited Lago Giuseppe Cellars. From the vineyard, to the beautiful natural reservoir, to the trees dripping in Spanish Moss, it was the perfect place to make the biggest promise of our lives in front of our family and friends. I knew with the help of my mom we could complement the natural beauty with the romantic touches I was envisioning. Once the venue was booked, myself, Josh, and both of our families hit the ground running to plan our version of an epic wedding!

Josh and I waited until the ceremony to see each other that day. The anticipation and nerves had been building all day, but the moment I saw him standing there with his eyes welled with tears all of it melted away and I wanted to sprint down the aisle into his arms (cheesy, I know!). It was such an overwhelmingly beautiful feeling. We wrote our own vows and Josh’s included a portion in French — mind you he doesn’t speak a word of the language! It was incredibly romantic and utterly shocking, it brought everyone to tears.

After the emotional ceremony, it was time to start celebrating! Josh and I spent hours curating a master list of songs for our guests to enjoy. One of his greatest joys in life is music, so this detail was one of the most important. We were fortunate to find a DJ that understood Josh’s passion in Malik. One of the most memorable events of the evening was Malik mixing Kaskade’s 2012 Coachella live set of Eyes with Ben E. Kings, Stand by Me for our first dance. This took a lot of convincing on my end but it turned out really special and our friends went crazy!

Later in the evening after a delicious dinner and epic speeches given by friends and family, we handed out glow in the dark foam sticks, light up glasses, and cute light up Minnie Mouse ears. The dance floor literally came alive! It was one of the best last minute decisions we made!

Speaking of last minute decisions, we decided two weeks before the wedding to book a videographer and photo booth. Josh went to Lake Tahoe for his bachelor party, and one night I got a phone call at 3 a.m. with him screaming into the phone, “I won money! We can get a videographer and a photo booth!!” I loved how at 3 a.m. he was thinking about how to make my dream come true. Swoon. We lucked out big time in booking Ryan from Satellite Video. We’re obsessed with the video!

Our wedding day was one of the best days of our lives. There is something so special about having everyone you love there to witness you starting your journey together. I am so happy we went with Josh’s desire for a big wedding. The day went off with out a hitch and I couldn’t be more thankful for our kind and generous families.

Templeton Wedding from MEF Photography

California is home to some of the prettiest weddings on the planet. That’s a fact. But when you have a bride with the most impeccable sense of style, it takes a California wedding from pretty to positively perfect. And as a talented graphic artist, this bride had her hand dipped into all aspects of the day’s design. Add in the peachy-perfect florals from Adornments Flowers plus the breathtaking photos from MEF Photography, and you’ve got a gallery that’s sure to inspire. But as if that weren’t enough, there’s a film by Rain Studios to tie to all together.

From MEF Photography…I am so excited to share this peach, feminine, loving wedding at Lago Giuseppe in Templeton, CA,  because remembering it brings me such joy. I tend to have strong relationships with my clients, but Katie + Danny, with their warmth and trueness of spirit, nuzzled themselves into a very special corner of my heart. And their wedding was such a perfect showcase of their love and lives. But I think my favorite part is not just how personal their wedding was, rather that it was made so personal by the bride herself. Katie is a super talented graphic designer who knew exactly what she wanted. She brought such elegant femininity to her details, all of which she personally designed, proofed, printed and assembled. She also honored Danny’s Hawaiian heritage (with his Maile Lei, the koa wood in his wedding ring, and by blowing a conch shell to start the ceremony) and included clever nods to his love of bass fishing (check out their escort card display!). Their engagement session was done mostly on his boat! A good wife, indeed.

And oh, the peach! From the invitations, programs, and pinwheels (care of the brides’s sister-in-law!), to the favors, flowers, and flags. Katie so beautifully wove her accent color in and through every possible detail of the day, without being overbearing in the least. I also can’t forget to mention that Katie’s grandfather serenaded Katie and her father during their dance—tear-jerker central! And the ceremony was officiated by Katie’s brother!

A fire pit, s’mores, a beautiful dessert bar, blankets for their guests, pre-ceremony beers for the guys, Katie’s mother’s wedding veil. I could talk for ages about this wedding, it left such a mark on my soul, and I believe the photos ooze Katie + Danny—their personalities, their happiness and their unique and splendid relationship. But I could do no better job in my description than the bride herself could, so I will let hers stand:

From the Bride…When it came to picking a location for our wedding, choosing the Central Coast was a no-brainer. Being really laid back ourselves, we loved the laid back feeling the towns in that area had. I actually found our venue, Lago Giuseppe, on Style Me Pretty when we were first searching for locations. If there was a spike in Internet traffic to “Templeton Wedding by Three Nails Photography”, it was probably all me. I fell in love with the location and once I met the family that owned the property, I fell in love with them too. I truly felt like they treated us like we were a part of their family and I can’t wait to visit their growing winery in the years to come.

Being a graphic designer, I appreciate when people put their trust in me when doing designs, so when I picked our vendors, that’s exactly what I did. I trusted their craft and let them take charge since they were the experts. And they certainly did not disappoint. I have to give a huge thanks to The Wedding Standard (www.theweddingstandard.net) website. I utilized that as a starting point for choosing most of the vendors we used. The Wedding Standard has hand-selected a group of trusted wedding professionals in the Central Coast and it really made me feel comfortable that I picked reputable people.

I could go on and on with rave reviews about each of our vendors, but the best decision we made was choosing our photographer, Molly. She captured so much emotion and we are beyond in love with our photos. Your photographer will be with you more than any other person on your big day and having her around was such a joy. It was like having a good friend along for the ride all day. She may be tiny, but she flawlessly ran the show when getting all of our portraits done. Trying to herd the bride and groom, bridesmaids, groomsmen, and families from both sides is no easy task and I never knew how important having an organized photographer would be until that day. We can’t thank her enough for the memories she captured that will last a lifetime.

Templeton, California Wedding from Sarah Kathleen Photography

On the opposite side of a traditional ballroom affair lies a little gem we like to call California classic. It’s a type of wedding that utilizes the clear blue skies as its backdrop, where the sunshine runs a plentith and a layer of casual elegance is woven into each and every detail. This Templeton wedding indeed checks every one of those boxes along with photographs by Sarah Kathleen that capture maybe the best detail of all; the Bride’s big, beaming smile. It’s totally infectious and you can see even more of it right here in the full gallery as well as in the film by Joel VanZ way too sweet to pass up.

From the Bride… John and I were extremely lucky and honored to be married at his family’s vineyard in Templeton, CA. The property is an incredibly special place for us and is where most of our big relationship milestones took place, so getting married there set the stage for a wedding that was very personal from start to finish. A good friend of ours officiated the ceremony, another good friend catered, the wine was made by John’s dad, the beer was made by John’s uncle, and my dad planned and manned the cigar and Scotch bar.

Our main goal in planning the wedding was for it to be romantic and warm and very us, but most of all, we wanted it to be an incredibly fun party for our friends and family who had traveled so far to be there. I think we succeeded! What started off as a nearly unbearably hot 100 degree day turned into one of most beautiful and warm nights we’ve ever experienced and eating dinner outside under the cafe lights with everyone we love was something we’ll never forget. Our first dance, our delicious rosemary lemonade fizz cocktails, the amazing food, the awesome music & extremely energetic dancing.

Everything was perfect from beginning to end. My advice for brides planning a wedding at a venue that is more or less bare bones like I did? Start planning early and don’t stop! There are a million things to think through that you wouldn’t ever need to think about at a real wedding venue: Power generators, porta potties, lighting… the list goes on and on! Also – do something uniquely you and a little unexpected: We surprised our guests with late night karaoke and, given the open bar, it was a big hit!

Templeton Wedding by Ken Kienow Photography + Flowers by Denise

This gorgeous outdoor fete is the epitome of a casually elegant California wedding. I’m loving the al fresco dining full of simple, white blooms by Flowers by Denise, the mini glass bottled coco-cola wedding favors with wooden tags made by the groom inscribed with “It’s the real thing,” and those subtle, yet glittery table numbers. Ya, they make my heart happy. As do all the beyond pretty images by Ken Kienow Photography and all the touches of lavender. Click here for more!

From the Bride…Brian and I fell in love with our venue from the moment we visited it a year ago.  We knew we could get everything we wanted in our wedding by choosing this location.  Located on a bluff overlooking the vineyards with lush greenery and twinkle lights, a glass of wine and good company is all you need. We wanted a small, intimate and romantic wedding with lots of dim lighting, neutral colors, white rose petals and subtle hints of lavender and amethyst.  When I was planning my wedding, I knew I wanted a variety of white flowers in low vases as our centerpieces so our guests could talk easily with one another in a laid back atmosphere.  At the reception, a slideshow played which included pictures of Brian and I growing up, our relationship together, and pictures of our friends and family.  We then danced to Keith Urban’s “Making Memories of Us,” one of our favorite songs from a concert of his we went to so long ago.  As guests mingled throughout the night, they heard thunder and saw lightening in the distance from a storm that had threatened us all day.  Luckily we only caught the tail end as it began to sprinkle just as the dancing was coming to an end…

Some personal touches we added to make our day special:  My bridal bouquet was adorned with a brooch that belonged to my late grandmother.  Our aunts, uncle’s, and parent’s were given special corsages and boutonnieres as they arrived to the wedding.  And each person’s place card was hand written by me in the same printed paper that I used to line the envelopes for our wedding invitations.  My shoes were plain silver flats I found at Nordstrom that I had added a brooch too. Our wedding favors were vintage coca cola’s with brown wooden tags (painted by the groom) that said, “Michel & Brian – It’s the Real Thing.”  My amazing cake is a replica of one I saw and fell in love with on SMP!  I HAD to have this cake!

My favorite memory of our wedding was sitting down at the reception for the first time, as dinner is being served and the sun is going down looking at all our guests enjoy each others company at our wedding.  The twinkle lights became brighter and brighter as the sun went down and Sinatra began to play, what an amazing feeling being just married celebrating our love with our family and friends.
