Rustic Refugio Ranch Proposal with Adorable Baby Goats

Horseback riding, balloons, sunflowers, baby goats (named Sebastian and Cornelius) and a killer view. It sounds like a random list, but these pieces came together to make for the perfect proposal for this gorgeous couple. And with a team like Michael + Anna Costa Photography and Alegria By Design, we’re not the least bit surprised it came together so beautifully. See all the heart-warming details in The Vault!

From Alegria by DesignSoon to be groom, Sam contacted us 3 months prior to his target proposal date filled with many ideas for his custom proposal to then girlfriend Nathalie. Both nature lovers, Sam knew the location had to be magical. When Sam sent me his short list of must haves I had to do a double take: horseback riding, balloons, sunflowers, baby goat with ribbon, purple and lavender, sunset, tree carving names and date, champagne glasses and beach view or wooded area. What? Baby Goats!!! Yes, our kind souled Nathalie as a slight obsession with baby goats. So I found goats…not just any goats but goats with cute names: Sebastian and Cornelius. As for the magical location, a 415 acre wine vineyard and estate nestled into the Santa Ynez Mountains, Refugio Ranch Vineyard. Refugio Ranch with its centuries long history nestled in a small canyon is magic for sure and offered the perfect backdrop for Sam’s surprise proposal. Producing this happy little event soon became a labor of love. I quickly gathered my dream team. The talented Anna Costa signed on to photograph the day, Tye French with Like A letter to film every moment and Anna Le Pley Taylor provided lovely and romantic blooms. Such a beautiful location and a beautiful couple, my job was a piece of cake.

Bouquet Breakdown: Al Fresco Wedding in Santa Ynez

This bouquet had me at Hellebores. For when it comes to wedding day perfection, Mindy Rice knows the exact recipe for a standout celebration. Proving this theory is a dreamy peach bouquet that has managed to steal our wedding loving hearts time and time again. Packing a powerful amount of pretty into one lil’ handful of heaven, we’ve got the entire bouquet breakdown below!

Al Fresco Wedding in Santa Ynez

  • 6 stems of Hellebores
  • 7 stems of Gardenias with buds
  • 10 stems of Gardenia Foliage
  • 12 stems white Tweedia
  • 5 stems Green Privet Berries
  • 10 stems of white Nerine Lilies
  • 12 Heritage Roses
  • 8 Fair Bianca Roses
  • 10 Classic Woman Roses
  • 12 White Ranunculus

From Mindy RiceSierra and Chase had a pretty clear vision of what they wanted their wedding to not only LOOK like, yet more importantly, what they wanted it to FEEL like. Luxurious flowers in blush, apricot and sage tones were high on their list, along with the playful addition of fresh peaches and a stunning, taupe Alencon lace.

When it came to designing her bouquet, I wanted to keep it rather traditional in shape yet with a soft romantic drape. Sierra’s beautiful Ines Di Santo, Lace gown also had a very timeless silhouette, allowing me to use textures and flower in a variety of bloom stages without giving you that overly detailed feeling.

Santa Ynez has a light afternoon breeze that, like clock work, sweeps through the valley right when the bride walks down the aisle! Yards and Yards of bias, silk ribbon drifted beautifully around her she emerged from the stone villa, an image that most definitely left a mark on her friends, family and most importantly… her husband.

Intimate Sunstone Vineyards Wedding

We just rounded up our favorite real weddings from 2015, but I’m already calling this as a hands-down favorite of the coming year. No surprise when vendors like Jose Villa, Joy Proctor, Sarah Winward and TEAM Hair & Makeup are involved. Inspired by the bride’s blush Carol Hannah gown, every detail is more dreamy than the next, and we couldn’t be more honored to house it in THE VAULT.

From Joy Proctor Design… Ruxandra and Scott fell in love with the unique charm of Sunstone Villa and knew immediately that it would be the perfect backdrop for their intimate wedding. Surrounded by 40 their closest friends and family, they exchanged vows in front of the beautiful Villa. Ruxandra’s blush Carol Hannah gown inspired the color palate of blush and rose, which complimented the natural colors of the location.

Guests were greeted with refreshing herbal lemonades, and seated in beautiful weathered cane back chairs. After entering in a vintage car, Ruxandra was escorted up the olive lined drive by her brother. The aisle was lined with clusters of potted plants and floral arrangements in stone estate urns. After exchanging their vows, guests were invited through the house to cocktail hour, held on a patio surrounded by planted herbs, olive trees and lavender. Soft linen sofas and lounge furniture made for an elegant, yet relaxed cocktail party.

Making their way to dinner, guests found their seating assignments on silver trays and plant filled drawers on an antique cabinet. The intimate al fresco dinner was held around a beautiful oak tree, from which multiple chandeliers hung in a cluster. Long wooden tables with beautiful linen runners were adorned with beautiful gardenesque florals and votive candles. Linen napkins wrapped in vines sat atop ironstone chargers with the dinner menu right below. Serenaded by a sweet D’Jango Reinhardt style band, guests danced under the stars and celebrated the beautiful couple.
