Glam Santa Ynez Engagement Session

These two Santa Ynez sweeties are proof that love can found just about anywhere – even in the Trauma Intensive Care Unit, no less. Fast forward five years and countless dates later, and you’ve got an engagement session that’s one for the books. With the help of Team Hair & Makeup and Pat Moyer behind the lens, they captured a whole gallery of memories sure to last a lifetime.

From The Bride…Love can be found anywhere. For us, it was in the hospital. Olu, my fiancé, is a doctor and was called to do a cardiac consult on a patient in the Neurosurgical/Trauma Intensive Care Unit. I was the nurse taking care of the patient right next door to his when we locked eyes. That’s how it all started and here we are 5 years later planning our wedding. Since then, I’ve started my own wedding and event planning company so I can’t wait to work along with friends that I’ve met and developed relationships with along the way.

Olu and I are used to seeing each other in scrubs so getting dressed up for the photo session was a nice change. The location we chose for the shoot was the hills in the Santa Ynez Valley. We fell in love with the beautiful rolling hills and knew our photographer, Pat Moyer, could bring that feeling and romance into life through the photos. Bailey and Marla were my go to girls from Team Hair & Makeup. I really felt confident in their hands and knew they could bring out the glam for the shoot. We had so much fun with this engagement shoot and cannot wait until our wedding day with all our friends and family!

Something Blue Fall Winery Wedding

When it comes to meaningful details, this wedding reigns king. Case in point? The bride’s “something blue” bouquet made even more beautiful by Lux Events And Design. She had the bride’s family and fiance write one word to describe her, and had each sentiment embroidered on blue silk ribbons. It’s about the coolest accessory a bride could ever ask for, and you can see even more amazing ideas captured by Megan Welker.

From The Bride… Where do I begin? There were so many special details and moments of the day. Let’s start with details. One of my favorite details was my bouquet. My wedding planner surprised me with my “something blue”. She had secretly asked my family and Ryan for one word that described me. She then took those special words from each of the special people in my life and had them embroidered on to hand cut silk ribbons. When she presented it to me, I was filled with tears and joy. It was such a special touch.

A few other details that I just loved was the guest place card display. The winery where we were married made olive oil and each guest received a bottle as there place card. Each bottle was placed in a small linen bag and adorned with a handwritten tag and displayed on a vintage dresser and arch. Each guest got to take home a part of the wineries bounty of olive trees. One of the moments that felt special was being surrounded by my beautiful bridesmaids. Each and everyone of them are so important to me and I am forever grateful for their love and support they show me.

Another favorite moment of the day is when the photographer took Ryan and I out to the middle of the vineyard at sunset. She wanted to snap some pictures of just the two of us surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the winery. Being in the middle of the vineyard gave us a minute to take in the beautiful day and everything that was surrounding us, friends family, and nature!

Holiday Cocktail Party Inspiration + A 31 Bits Giveaway!

The holidays are the perfect excuse to get together with friends and partake in some festive cocktailing. What’s better for the holiday spirit then, well, spirits?! The idea behind our holiday cocktail party shoot was to create something that was comfortable and glamorous at the same time. We achieved this by introducing a mixture of textures: sequins and faux fur in the linens; flannel in the chairs; brass and colored glass in the tabletop accents; and just a touch of leather to ground it all. The venue, Whispering Rose Ranch, with its lodge-like equestrian feel and mountain views over the Santa Ynez Valley, created the perfect backdrop for a cozy, yet feminine, gathering among friends.

From Rebecca Yale PortraitsDiana and Gerry’s wedding was full of elegant and glamorous touches while embracing the rustic vineyard setting. The bride sparkled in her rhinestoned Jimmy Choo’s and Kate Spade earrings while the groom looked sharp in his bespoke blue suit. The couple’s favorite movie is Up so they incorporated the brightly colored balloons into their reveal before the ceremony and the bride surprised the groom with a very special “Ellie Badge” grape soda bottle cap pin from the movie. The Jersey natives made the day extra special by bringing their dogs along to California and they were dressed for the occasion in a bowtie and tutu. The couple said their vows under a beautiful California oak tree as the sun set behind them lighting up the Santa Ynez Mountains. After the intimate ceremony guests danced the warm summer evening away under rows of bulb lights strung up in the courtyard next to the vineyard.

Boho Sunstone Winery Wedding

Any bride who can rock a Monique Lhuillier gown paired with a full-length cape is a style rockstar, in my book. And along with her Claire Pettibone crown and Jimmy Choo shoes, this fashionista did just that. Soleil Events helped bring the couple’s vision for a relaxed, Tuscan-inspired party to fruition and our friends at Rad + In Love worked their talents behind the camera. More right here.

Bohemian

From the Wedding Planner, Leanne ElliottFrom the first conversation with Kit and Alejandro I knew this wedding was going to be memorable. They had their priorities in order: 1) A great party, 2) A great party. It is so refreshing to have an engaged couple think of their wedding experience from the stand point of being attentive hosts. Kit and Alejandro envisioned a weekend of festivities, where nearly 200 guests would be treated to something truly special that reflects the couples love for each and every person. The Villa at Sunstone Winery was the perfect choice. With Kit’s Jersey Girl meets Bohemian LA sensibilities, and Alejandro’s Uruguayan good looks and preppy style, the Villa provided just the old-world WOW factor they had hoped to find.

The family took up residency at the Villa on Friday, and the weekend was kicked off with a traditional Argentine Asado Welcome Dinner on the Villa’s back lawn. On the wedding day, the property was transformed into a simple, elegant setting that was plucked right off the pages of a Tuscany wedding feast. The ceremony took place under the property’s enormous White Oak. Kit stunned in a Monique Lhuillier dress with a full-length lace cape, while the Gents dazzled in J. Crew suits with tailored perfection. The reception, catered by the impeccable Lorraine Lim Catering, was a fuss-free party where the family-style dinner took center stage. Floral by Anna Le Pley Taylor brought in a vibrant, Bohemian vibe that popped against the cotton linens and gorgeous stone façade of the Villa. The property glowed as the sun set over Santa Ynez wine country, and DJ Smiles Davis from Flashdance spun tunes from the 80s Jersey Shore, to LA’s hottest clubs.

From The Bride… My dress and cape were both from Monique Lhuillier. They told me that no one else had ever bought the cape, which I think is a travesty. My shoes were Jimmy Choo and my metal crown was from Claire Pettibone. Alejandro’s suit was custom from Requisite Clothing. And his shoes were Barker Black.

My bridesmaids were my six best friends from high school in South Jersey and all flew out from the East Coast. They were in J.crew. Al had family and friends fly in all the way from Uruguay. My good friend/senior prom date, Chris Lind played Tom Waits’ “Jersey Girl” as we walked down the aisle and Fleetwood Mac’s “Tusk” when we walked out. Our first dance was to “Fading Like a Flower” by Roxette. They were the first concert Al ever went to at the soccer stadium in Uruguay (at the same time I was wearing the cassette tape out in my moms car in South Jersey). We got to see them in la a couple of years ago and sang along to every song. My dad and I danced to “Edelweiss” from The Sound of Music, which he used to sing to me when i was a little girl. Al and his mom danced to La Punalada, a tango from Uruguay. And my dad sang Al and I a version of a song he wrote and sang to my mom at their wedding in 1968.
