In my humble opinion, it doesn’t get much better than a wedding at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum. This pretty little locale is the epitome of rustic meets romantic, and the perfect al fresco setting for saying “I do.” Case in point? This gorgeous gem of a day captured by Fortuna Photography, a pink + blue masterpiece with fabulous DIY details, a charming twosome and a gallery of lovely right here.
And a pretty little film from Daniel Chae? Yes, please.
From the Bride… My husband Brian got down on one knee and popped the big question on top of the London Eye, which is where a lot of our inspiration came from. We wanted to get married outdoors and immediately fell in love with the Santa Barbara Historical Museum. This historic gem has the Santa Barbara charm that we wanted and is located in the heart of Santa Barbara. I wanted our wedding to be romantic so we went with a soft color palette and picked mint and peach. Rather than making London a full-fledged theme we threw in some London and British touches.
Throughout the planning process we were conscious of our budget for the wedding. It really helped us to stay within our budget once we decided what things were most important to us. We wanted to make sure there were good food and drinks, lots of dancing and most importantly all of our guests had a good time.
I chose to do as many DIY projects as I could from our cake toppers, burlap signs, flower girl wand, programs, etc. We are very fortunate because we have very talented and generous family and friends who helped with some of our projects. My brother-in-law is an art director who helped design our printed items. His mom grew the succulents that we used for our favors. My other brother-in-law made the cornhole and my sisters helped with the favors, sewing our ring bearer pillow and decorative pillows. Our friend Amy Logsdon created an artistic wedding moment map for us that we used in our invitations and also framed to put on our welcome table. We also framed our engagement photos generously taken by my cousin Jennifer. Other personal touches included a locket on my bouquet with pictures of my grandmas and personalized programs that said Yippee and Goody Goody. Both are my Grandpa’s favorite sayings and unfortunately he was unable to travel for the wedding.
My very talented cousin Kevin graciously played the halo as guests arrived to the ceremony. We found an amazing saxophonist named Justin Ward who played with our DJ during dinner and throughout the reception.
The day of the wedding did not start off the way I had planned. Our original hair and makeup stylists who were also going to provide our photo booth never showed up. We were very lucky to find La Rouge Salon and ThoughtBox Photo Booth that morning. Even with all the tears and frustration, looking back at the day I would not have changed a thing. It was a blessing in disguise because everything turned out even better than we had envisioned.
And of course our dream wedding would not have been possible without our other incredible vendors. Huge thanks to all of our brilliant vendors, especially Fortuna Photography and Daniel Chae for capturing the day, Cassie at Omni Fresco for making sure everything went smoothly, Juniper for the beautiful flower arrangements, our officiant Rich for the touching ceremony and DJ Zeke for keeping the dancing going. Also big thanks to our loving parents, family and friends for all of your support and for making our wedding weekend so special and memorable!
