Romantic Lovers’ Lane Engagement Session

This adorable Groom-to-be one upped his lady by proposing on the day she was surprising him with a birthday party, and that sense of fun, sweet love is evident in Caroline Tran’s shoot. It’s ultra romantic (TEAM Hair & Makeup’s magic has me seriously considering some gorgeous extensions) but look a little closer and you can see the smile in their eyes, you can feel the humor and whimsy this couple has. I’m already head over heels for them – join me in the VAULT right this way for even more!

From the Bride-to-be… Warren and I moved separately to Dallas, Texas in 2011. He moved from Washington, DC to Texas to begin his residency and I moved to start graduate school, and we met by the magic of fate through a second degree friend, Tina!

Tina was trying to set up my best friend Dawn with her friend Ben. But through a series of serendipitous events, both Dawn and Ben ended up meeting other people that summer. Unbeknownst to Tina, she presented Dawn with Ben’s single friend, Warren. Dawn saw this as an opportunity to set up her single friend, me, with this nice guy, Warren!

After Warren and I were connected via two cross country moves and a chain of five people, we went on our first date and instantly clicked. The rest was history! Fast forward almost three years later on Warren’s thirtieth birthday, when he proposed to me at the same place where we exchanged our “I love yous” for the first time. I was planning a surprise birthday party for Warren that day, and when he found out a few weeks prior (turns out, I can’t plan a surprise party to save my life!), he decided to catch me off guard and one up me by proposing. He definitely succeeded!

The inspiration of our engagement shoot stemmed from our desire to feel natural, playful and romantic! Warren and I are getting married in San Francisco near my hometown next year and what better place for an engagement session than Lovers’ Lane tucked away in the gorgeous Presidio of San Francisco? Mar from TEAM Hair & Makeup is incredible and made me feel so beautiful that day! She was so much fun and had me laughing every second, making it hard to sit still for her! Our amazingly talented photographer, Caroline Tran, made us feel organic and lighthearted the entire afternoon! She was a dream to work with and we can’t wait for her to capture our special day!

Elegant San Francisco Engagement Session

One glance at this e-sesh and you’ll understand why couples are opting for intimate affairs at San Francisco City Hall. Marrying old world glamour with elegant arhitecture, it’s the ultimate engagement that you won’t want to miss. Complete with a couture gown and sweeter than sweet kisses, Jasmine Lee Photography shared it all with us in The Vault!

From The Bride…Me and Michael both chose San Francisco for our engagement shoot because we both met for college, UC Berkeley back in 2010 while now we both live in Jakarta, Indonesia.. As I sought after a local SF photographer, I found Jasmine through Instagram.. After several email exchange, I found Jasmine to be super duper helpful in answering my most meticulous questions such as why was this photo has different feel and color compared to this and that… From that point on, I feel confident to work with Jasmine, knowing she understands the ambiance and feel that I aim for my photos.. We then both decided to do photoshoot at City Hall, Baker Beach and Marin Headlands…

Then the real challenge was to actually prepare all the details for the photoshoot… Hair, Makeup, Props, Dress, etc… It was quite challenging to find the perfect vendors since I live thousand miles away but luckily after doing my due diligence (scrolling through instagrams, SMP website, googling, yelping, etc) I found trusted vendors and again all of these people are very cooperative..

Around the same time, I also prepare the dress which I wore for my City Hall photoshoot… I have to admit that I was lucky because my mother had bought the beautifully beaded lace some years ago and she thought that it would be perfect to make a dress for my engagement or wedding party, etc… This beautiful lace was transformed by a talented local designer in Indonesia, Imelda Hudiyono… She did such an amazing job creating this beautiful dress and I did ask to have a more dramatic feel to the dress because I felt like having a more timeless classic shoot…

Fast forward to May 2015, me and Michael flew to San Francisco… Two days prior to my engagement shoot with Jasmine, I picked up some succulents and flower crown at Farmgirl Flowers at SF Flower Market… That place was literally full of the most beautiful flowers exist! And I was very lucky that during my stroll in the flower market, I found fringed tulips! I was quite excited b/c it’s quite a rare flower back in my home country! Then I decided to do my own DIY flower “bouquet” and bought a matching fringed ribbons at Michael’s…

On the day of our engagement shoot, we started with City Hall shoot which is our priority location… Everything went quite smoothly and we were quite lucky (again) that the grand stairs was quite empty (no tourists!) at one point… So we rushed downstairs and there you go, we had the whole grand stairs for us! After spending quite some time at City Hall (we had such good photos that we kept going!), we moved to our second location which was Baker Beach. I have to admit, it was FREEZING cold by the time we reached there.. But there’s nothing that can stop us of course! We reached to the higher ground to get the tree branch that I would like to have shoot at… The photo result was amazing… Looking at how details the tree branches and how good the nature is! Moving forward, we went quickly to Marin Headlands.. by that time, Karl the Fog has already set in… We had to bear the cold weather because Marin Headlands is quite a higher ground… Jasmine did her magic and managed to get some shoots overlooking the Marin area… And Voila! The result looks like we were somewhere in Italian Coast :) I really like the dynamic on that day because in spite of the cold weather, the combination of us and our photographer, we were not discouraged with the weather… That’s what it takes make a good photo that all parties have a good time and after all what we want is to have a memorable day…

To me, the whole process was quite memorable as the photoshoot day itself because I have met so many inspiring vendors along the way.. I did my due diligence of finding good vendors and trusted them that they will do their utmost best to make this day memorable… I think this is really important, that when I and Michael look back, we indeed have a great time preparing, meeting new people and amazing photos :)

Classic San Francisco Museum Wedding

Classic and traditional yet with this couples’ very own little twist, this San Francisco wedding at the De Young Museum captured by Augie Chang Photography is one to pay attention to. With a bit of a modern vibe and elegant down to the very last detail, Jubilee Lau Events made sure every moment of this city fête was memorable. See it all here.

Art Venue

From Jubilee Lau EventsMary-Alex and Thomas visited San Francisco a few years back and fell in love with this dynamic city. Naturally, when the beautiful couple from Wichita Falls, Texas got engaged, they decided to host a destination wedding in the heart of San Francisco to share their love of this city with their closest friends and families.

Everyone traveled, near and far, to experience a weekend full of festivities in the Bay Area. Beneath a round chandelier with white chiffon fabric and a floral chandelier, the couple exchanged their intimate vows at the beautiful Sculpture Garden in the modern De Young Museum. Following that, guests enjoyed a 360 degree magnificent view from the Hamon Tower at the museum, in between delicious hors d’oeuvres and libations by Componere Fine Catering.

To fulfill their dream of an untraditional wedding that would allow guests to move around and mingle all evening, Wilsey Court was set for a cocktail style reception for the rest of the evening. A mix of furniture vignettes and gorgeous tables draped with floral garlands provided seating for guests as they hopped between creatively engaging food stations that include rolled to order sushi, short ribs, mac and cheese, and more. Live music performed by Lucky Devil’s band encouraged guests to hit the dance floor early.

Mary-Alex and Thomas each had their own cake, displayed prominently next to one another at the museum. The wedding cake was a dreamy 5 tier cake with ombre petals. Thomas’ groom’s cake was an amazing replica of the Grand Teton, a Wyoming landscape that was reflective of his fond childhood memories.
