How this duo managed to mash up Christmas, Star Wars, Oscar de la Renta and nighttime Bloody Mary’s in a way that actually feels really chic and dare I say…gorgeous!? is beyond me. But they did and I’ll take it. Over and over again. It might have something to do with the fact that LVL Weddings & Events was behind the pretty and that B&G Photography was on hand to turn that very pretty into something Winter dreams are made of, but regardless, we’re toasting to the bold and yet entirely beautiful wedding that is making us smile from ear to ear. From the Bride…The wedding took place in our hometown of Pasadena, California twelve years after we started dating. Our wedding had touches from two of our passions: Christmas and Star Wars. The bride’s birthday is in December, and Christmas has always been her favorite time of year. A Christmas wedding was a must have, and the wedding took place almost exactly one year after being engaged. The wedding weekend was kicked off with a private viewing for friends and family of Star Wars: Force Awakens, other Star Wars themes included the groom’s tuxedo studs, socks, and the cake topper.

Our event celebrated our long history and included over 25 people who graduated from our same high school, nine of which were in our wedding party. The groom’s college tennis team was also represented by fourteen members. The ceremony took place in the same church that the bride was baptized in, as a baby. The reception, at the Valley Hunt Club, was just two blocks from the groom’s parent’s house – where the rehearsal dinner took place the night before. One of the best moments of the night was the parent-child dance in which more than thirteen mother/son and father/daughter pairs danced to the Beatles’ All You Need is Love.

The bride was thrilled to be wearing an Oscar de la Renta gown and holiday-red Ferragamo shoes. She also wore pearls borrowed from her mother and a sapphire ring borrowed from her 98 year old grandmother, who was in attendance at the wedding. The groom wore a custom tux from Indochino and his wedding band has been passed down for three generations. It is the same ring that his late grandfather wore.

The wedding party included the bride’s sister, brother, and 2-year-old nephew as well as the groom’s two brothers and many friends. The bridesmaids wore navy Alfred Sung full length dresses and the groomsmen wore grey Indochino suits. The ring bearer wore a sailor suit made by the bride’s mom.

Other highlights included the bride’s childhood piano teacher playing the piano during the ceremony, including Silent Night and Joy to the World as guests sang along. The dessert table had a cake with a Star Wars topper and a macaroon Christmas tree, the bride’s favorite cookie. The bride’s choice cocktails were a fig mojito and cranberry spritz and the groom’s choice cocktails were an old fashioned and a bloody Mary. Later in the evening, special hot bourbon apple ciders were served to guests. The meal was a holiday feast of pumpkin soup, prime rib, roast turkey, Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes, roasted spaghetti squash, and more. The reception also had jars filled with silver and gold cranes that the bride, groom, and bride’s family folded for luck.
