From Mirelle Carmichael Photography… Jeff and Berdette will be celebrating their five year wedding anniversary on Valentine’s Day. Jeff wanted to surprise Berdette with hair and makeup by the talented Jessi Skipton-Campbell, and a beautiful late afternoon photo shoot by their good friend, Mirelle Carmichael. Berdette wore a vintage wedding gown belonging to Mirelle, and her hair was adorned with floral wreaths (the pink one is by San Luis Obispo artist Asha Hickerson, and the red one is by florist Huong Hopp of Backporch Flowers in Santa Maria).

The flowers used in the bouquet and head wreath by Huong Hopp of Backporch Flowers were pink ice protea, roses, red anemone, Queen Anne’s lace, flowering cabbage, and blue thistle. The greenery was a combination of dusty miller, magnolia leaves, asparagus fern put together with river birch stems.

From the Groom… I met my beautiful wife in 2006 when I visited the Philippines. My parents introduced us and she immediately swept me off of my feet with her beauty, simplicity and kindness. I had never met a woman like her in my life. Three years later, we got married. Because of her, my life has definitely changed for the best. I’m the happiest man in the world. She is my queen and I plan to always treat her like royalty. As a photographer in the wedding industry, I always want our photos taken every anniversary. Since this year will our 5th year anniversary, I wanted it to be a little more special. Thanks to Mirelle Carmichael and her talented team, my wife looked amazing!

Cayucos Wedding from Ken Kienow Wedding Photography

Intimate doesn’t always mean casual. Sometimes small affairs can be just as glamorous as their larger cousins. With sequin linens, a sparkling BHLDN dress and a night filled with twinkling cafe lights and loved ones, this couple showed us exactly what intimate glamour looks like. And it’s gorgeous. See even more crafted by Grace Lorenzen and captured by Kelsey Stewart for Ken Kienow in the full gallery right here.

From Grace Lorenzen…Ryan and Whitney wanted a small, intimate gathering of close friends and family to celebrate their wedding. They did not, however, want it to be a casual, laid back affair. They wanted to pull out all the stops and make it a night to remember.

Their first priority was the dinner menu. Their shared passion for food had always played an important role in their relationship, and they wanted to share that passion with their wedding guests. My husband, Jensen (the chef), wrote a menu that incorporated dishes that were inspired by childhood memories (an amuse bouche of chicken divan, which Ryan’s mother used to make), dishes the couple first enjoyed together (while in college they couldn’t afford to eat extravagantly every night, but every once a week they would splurge on a “pay day steak”), and current favorites (local roast chicken with wild mushrooms). Most of the vegetables on the menu came from Ryan’s garden, everything else was sourced from local farms, dairies, and ranches.

Their second priority was atmosphere. They wanted a glamorous affair, mink coats, live jazz, sequin table runners and silk napkins. They also wanted to leave their guests guessing, the only detail that was revealed prior to the day was the location, time, and dress code. Canapes in the garden came first, then dinner, then the party was greeted on the front porch by a jazz trio who escorted them across the street to the beach for the candlelit ceremony. Most of the guests thought the night was over (how could you top such a romantic ending to a perfect day?), but when they arrived back at the house they were led through the garden to a small tent that was ready for cake, dancing, and lounging. The night ended as perfectly and peacefully as it began, and it was truly a night to remember.

Central California Wedding at Pikin Conrow Estate from Lindsey Gomes

From the moment I spotted this adorable bride, I was in love with her wedding.  In love with the sheer joy and happiness bursting from her face in every single image from Lindsey Gomes - and head over heels for her intimate celebration at The Victorian Pitkin Conrow Estate, one of my new favorite venues. A beyond gorgeous (+ happy) bride, a dashing groom and a sweet setting that is all kinds of magical?  A match made in wedding heaven.  Join me in the gallery for SOO much more.

From the Bride… We feel so incredibly blessed not only to just be married to each other, but that we got to share our day with the people that we love. When we were planning our day, we wanted it to feel like a big family dinner. We wanted to be relaxed and not obligated to a wedding day timeline or tradition. We decided to keep our guest list small and everything else really simple, and we wouldn’t have changed a thing! Our venue beautiful and vintage, and we felt like it really didn’t need a whole lot of decoration; so, we found some vintage bottles and jars and made our own flower arrangements for the tables. There were a few other little accents for the guest book table and the gift table, but that was really all the venue needed. We also had amazing vendors who took wonderful care of us, which made our planning process super easy and stress free. Our wedding day turned out absolutely perfect and we couldn’t be happier!
