From the Bride… My husband and I had only one goal with our wedding: to make it completely us. We decided to get married under a huge oak tree. I grew up wanting to be a florist, so we picked a garden venue and I made sure I was surrounded by flowers, even in my hair! We didn’t pick a color theme but wanted everything to make sense for spring in wine country. Our good friend married us, and we wrote our own vows. My husband’s vows described how lucky we were to meet — we lived on opposite sides of the country and both ended up in San Francisco. We met on a kickball team, became friends and fell in love. My vows began with “When we joked for days about becoming meth addicts in order to lose weight, that’s how I knew we would be friends.” In my vows, I promised to always pick up Goldfish crackers, Milano cookies and Reese’s peanut butter cups from Walgreens. Our shared love of potty humor was featured several times during the ceremony. It was perfect.
We focused on serving food that was uniquely us. We had goldfish crackers at the bar, a candy buffet with our favorite candies, and after-party pizza bites and quesadillas. The wedding cake was a cheesecake I baked from my husband’s grandmother’s recipe, and I also baked my signature salty white chocolate chip cookies for dessert. It was a magical day filled with laughter and joy where we felt surrounded by love from start to finish.
