We have one of the dreamiest weddings to share with you today! This Sonoma winery celebration by Jason + Anna Photography is packed with pastel goodness and pretty-as-can-be DIY details. If there is color combination that can get me swooning every single time it has to be peony pink and aqua blue. There is no end to romance and style when these two hues combine. And wrapping up all the pretty in a big bow is the lovely film by LoveSpun Films…
From the bride… We looked at many beautiful venues but when we came to Viansa and met Brooke, we knew we had to work with her and get married there while getting to enjoy Sage Catering’s amazing service and food. I found a wedding on Style Me Pretty that I LOVED and contacted the photographers, Jason + Anna Photography. I assumed they were Bay Area photographers because the wedding was in the Bay Area. We chatted about my wedding until I realized they lived in Arizona… BUT they had a wedding booked the night before mine and already had flights up to Sonoma! I had a bridesmaid who lived a mile apart from them (what are the chances!?) meet them for coffee. She called me and told me I needed to book them. So I did, and I split travel costs with a bride I’ve never met. Score! I then found my videographer, LoveSpun Films and florist, Michael Daigian Designs, from other amazing SMP posts.
After finding the venue and key vendors, I turned to our amazingly talented friends and family. My mom made two sashes for my dress (I changed it and my hair after the ceremony because I couldn’t decide on a style), a hair piece, garters from old lace from her dress and 10, yes TEN, clutches for my bridesmaids via a PPT tutorial we bought off Etsy. She also made the ring bearer flag, and we made the moss letters, which were MUCH harder than we expected! My dad then made an amazing cake stand modeled off one I saw on SMP out of metal and granite. One bridesmaid designed and made all my save the dates, invitations, programs (wording found on SMP), cupcake toppers, straw flags, table numbers and more. Another bridesmaid hand-sewed the flower girl dress and designed labels for our CD gifts. My father-in-law and a groomsman burned 150 CDs for the gifts while a friend from high school, who was with me and Mike on the first day we met, played the guitar and sang all our ceremony music. Another bridesmaid helped me paint my Thank You sign and another negotiated my alterations when I was in complete bridezilla mode and knew I shouldn’t speak to anyone but her. And lastly, Mike’s brother officiated our wedding and created the most personal, wonderful, heartfelt ceremony I could have ever dreamed of. We could NOT have had the wedding we did without the amazing people we have in our lives.
We wanted everyone at our wedding to feel included and be a part of it. Since we lived so many places in our courtship, we had friends coming from all over the U.S. and even from Wales and family from New Zealand, so we created RSVP cards that had a map and asked people to draw where they were coming from. We encouraged people to get creative, and they did, so we hung them up at our guest book for everyone to look at, mixed in with pictures of me and Mike growing up. For our guest book, we created cards that said, “Love is…” and asked guests to finish the sentence as a form of advice. We took the cards and put them in a photo album to use as a coffee table book. Leading to the ceremony I made signs out of old fence posts explaining (a very brief version of) our story of how we met and noted that the day was exactly four years and two days since the first day we laid eyes on each other. For our ceremony we did a wine exchange with significant wines from each of our families and also had each bridesmaid and groomsman bless our rings.
