Holy moly – the Viceroy Palm Springs has some GORG photo op backdrops in it’s pretty Palm Springs venue, and boy did Mollie Jane Photography take advantage of each and every one of them! That yellow-tiled wall? To die for. Those fab yellow club chairs? Need-to-make-their-way-into-my-life-ASAP. Anywho…this fabulous couple just enhanced all that pretty with all of their personal touches, making the full gallery of images a rather stunning place to be this Tuesday morning!

From the Bride…Soren and I wanted a formal, yet modern and contemporary wedding. Most importantly, we wanted it to be a celebration of our love. We decided to get married in Palm Springs because we wanted our wedding to be a vacation destination for our guests. We used the color palette of yellow, white, and black because yellow is my favorite color and we liked the formality of black and white. Most of our wedding was DIY. Every paper product, with the exception of the invitations, were all printed and put together by our family, our friends, and us. I found a vendor on Etsy to help design the backdrop for the stationary.  Jolie’s mom handmade the bridesmaids and flower girl dresses. We bought the fabric from the Los Angeles Garment District and fabric stores in Orange County, Ca.

We wanted the ceremony to be all about our love and commitment for each other. We spent a lot of hours on the phone with our officiant discussing our intimate ceremony. As our guests entered the ceremony lawn, they received handkerchiefs with tags that said, “For your…tears of joy, tears of laughter, tears of happily ever after”. We found the handkerchiefs online and my mom stitched our initials with the design on each one. We knew the weather would be warm (it was in Palm Springs, after all), so we created the fans as our programs. It was important that we honor our mothers at some point during the ceremony. Our officiant gave us the idea of presenting them with a single rose. It was a sentimental and special moment. The best part of the ceremony was when we exchanged our own vows. I would definitely recommend writing your own personal vows. There was not a single dry eye in the venue!

We wanted the rest of the evening to be devoted to celebrating our love as our guests had the time of their lives. We stumbled upon the chandeliers in the L.A. Fashion District and brought in additional tea lights. Soren and I love to travel, so instead of table numbers, we named the tables as places we have traveled together.  A special moment of the reception was the father-daughter dance. It was the first time I can remember seeing my father cry; it was an emotional, touching memory. The dinner was held outside while the dancing took place indoors. We had an entire dessert table that included the wedding cake, cupcakes, cake pops, candy, lemon bars, rice crispy treats, macaroons, whoopee pies, and loaded bars. As favors, we created take out boxes for them to take home some of the sweets. Our guests loved it! The photo booth was hand-built by my dad. I DIY’ed the sign and bought the props from various stores like Michael’s, dollar stores, etc.  It was a great touch and allowed us to get some fun pictures of all our guests that attended the wedding.

My advice to brides… Enjoy every minute of it! You will never plan your wedding ever again; do not take it for granted. The experience goes by so fast. As far as planning – the Internet is your best friend. Wedding blogs can give you great inspiration. You can also find some great deals on party supply and crafting websites.
