From the bride… Everyone kept telling us how relaxed we were about the whole thing, especially the day of the wedding, which must mean that was rather unique. We planned well, and had amazingly organized wedding coordinators, but most of all we just focused on being relaxed, happy, and confident in our decision to spend the rest of our lives together instead of fretting over details that didn’t matter.
The whole thing was incredibly personal. We had the wedding in my hometown, the pastor who officiated our wedding was a good friend of ours, we had a traditional Scottish bagpiper play our recessional (a family tradition) and, for, us a way to honor to my paternal grandparents and uncle from Scotland who are deceased. We gave local olive oil in jars to guests as favors, which was picked and pressed at our family friends’ ranch. We had a map for friends to sign in place of a traditional guest book to reflect our love of (okay, obsession with) travel. I picked the flowers and wedding favors to reflect the setting, my hometown of Ojai. I asked Camilla to use flowers and colors that represented Ojai’s native flora: oranges, lavendar, and olives.
Our favorite moment was when we walked into the reception to see all of our family and friends. We felt completely overwhelmed by love from all our favorite people.
