The way this bride and groom transformed this barn along California’s central coast is outstanding. They were lucky enough to have friends with such a spectacular space but wanted to add a little more to create their perfect venue. By building a reclaimed wood wall to hang gilded frames and mirrors behind the head table, crafting an enormous chandelier with mason jars and bringing in loads of vintage pieces they were able to bring their rustic yet elegant dream to life. Danielle Capito Photography magically captured this laid-back affair and each creatively crafted detail. Click here to see even more!

From the bride… Being a wedding photographer, I have seen lots and lots of weddings. I knew what I really really wanted for our wedding day, and I also knew what I didn’t want. Trevor and I decided we wanted something very pretty and classy, yet fun and laid back. I have always been drawn to that rustic, country, vintage style so I really wanted that to be the “theme” of the wedding. Our wedding was held at a private residence is San Ardo, CA. Their front lawn was the setting for the ceremony, and with the green hills in the background and beautiful landscaped yard, we really didn’t have to do much. I saw a picture of a wooden arbor in a magazine and begged Trevor and his groomsmen to recreate it for me!
The reception was held 2.5 miles up the road at one of their hay barns that we transformed into this amazing country, rustic, elegant beautiful party. It was exactly the way I had envisioned. I couldn’t breath the first time I saw it. It was absolutely magical. As for the details of it all, we started collecting mason jars, twine, burlap, and the gold frames and mirrors that made up the back drop of the head table. Again, I had seen a picture of this in a magazine and fell in love! Trevor and I knocked down an old corral that was on the property and he and his groomsmen used the wood to create the awesome wood wall that held the frames and mirrors.
Considering the venue, we knew we didn’t want black tuxes and dress shoes. It had to be something a little bit more light, fresh, and laidback. So in came the tan suits and Sanuk walk shoes. For the girls, I have always loved the idea of bridesmaids in less formal dresses that are still cute. I loved the print on their dresses and having them add the belt tied it all together. I wanted to be more of a, it’s not perfect so it’s kinda perfect, feeling. Hence the same flower yet in 6 different colors for the bridesmaids bouquets. The girls then switched into their cowboy boots for the reception at the barn which had everyone ready to let their hair down and have a great time!
Trevor and I were very calm and cool the day of our wedding. We kept everything so laid back that we really didn’t have much to stress over. Our wedding was exactly the way we would could have ever wanted and it was so much fun. I look back on the day and just remember how happy we were. It was perfect.

I read the whole Blog! I have told countless acquaintances here in West Virginia that Prince William could hope to have such an awesome wedding! The hills were green and the Orradre Ranch was itself an awesome venue. John & Laura were perfect hosts, and their children were well behaved and a pleasure to watch as they participated. I felt honored to have been there to witness the event, and G'ma Fran to have it planned for her birthday. WOW! G'pa Burrell
Beautiful wedding. Where are the groomsmen suits from? Thanks

One more thought on the subject, the rustic and elegant mix keeps things in perspective, perfectionism isn't necessary just enjoy the day!
