A wedding built for two. Doesn’t that just sound hopelessly romantic? Blissful in that “only-in-the-movies” kind of way. Well, this beautiful couple took the idea of a private wedding and ran with it, hiring the FABULOUS Lisa Vorce and Mindy Rice to design the day and the florals, and SMP fav, Aaron Delesie, to shoot their photographs. Which are definitely more like fine art than wedding imagery. And the result was this magical, completely idyllic wedding that was as personal as it was gorgeous. After a magical ceremony performed by the fabulous JP Reynolds — Carey and Brian were summoned to their candlelight dinner reception. We had a tiered ruffled linen sewn for the dinner table with oversized ruffled napkins to match. Barker Decor draped the main dining room for us in the coordinating blue fabric which helped soften the room. Mindy did extraordinary floral arrangements which included peonies, ranunculus, anemones, and dusty miller. She incorporated cast metal branches into the arrangements for an unpredictable twist. So gorgeous! Daniel Rautman created an incredible four course menu for Carey and Brian that was to die for.
Lisa Holtzman calligraphed individual “Mr” and “Mrs” menus and we mounted them on velvet backers created by Papel Paper and Press. We partnered with Melody at Sweet and Saucy for the dessert extravaganza. We sent Melody photos of Carey’s china, and she created little works of dessert art to complement our over all design. Delicious and visually stunning!
All was captured perfectly by Aaron & Jen Delesie, and by Curtis of Living Cinema! Carey and Brian were a delight to work with and the whole day was exactly what we had hoped for them… private, romantic, memorable!

Her dress is stunning. Who is it by?
these are so perfect. i love the tones! x
WOW! So jealous! I would have loved to shoot this wedding!
bethany,
my dress is Amsale blue label- the style is called Calista.
Now THAT is the definition of intimate, elegant, original, whathaveyou! I am in love with this wedding! Congratulations to the happy couple!:)
This is great colour palette!! The cake does a great job of tying all the colours in together!
I love the headpiece! Anyone know who made it or where I can get one?
Cat,
my headpiece was custom made by Doloris Petunia (on etsy)
Courtney (the designer) and I became great friends during the design process-
she is SO amazingly talented-she also made my cuff! Her cuffs are now being sold at Anthropologie, but if you want a custom one- contact her on etsy.
What a wonderful idea: a Wedding"built" for 2! We are thinking of "eloping" with possibly my daughter and husband as attendents, ONLY. No other guests. Then I saw this and am happy to see that we are not the only ones who want a "private" ceremony AND reception. How do I go about this type of "affaire?" Where did you get married?
Congratulations on doing your "own thing!"
Carey, your dress is amazing!
Who did the bride's hair and makeup? She looks stunning!
love love the color palette for this wedding. and the bouquet is way too sweet along with her gown!
This is the most beautiful wedding I have ever seen!!!!!
Vanessa,
Thank you for the nice complement!
Molly Greenwald did my makeup- a friend in her industry referred her to me. (she is out of LA and VERY talented!)
Nada Stolz @ Cheri Bibi in Santa Barbara did my hair. (also super nice, we live out of state and I met her in person the day before the wedding!) I sent her pics via email and she was really easy to work with.
Wow, the design is stunning! I love the color palette and all of the wonderful textures. The bride's look is just so sweet and romantic. Love it all!
Such a beautiful wedding. I love the table linens, where did you find them?
Definitely my pick for the year. STUNNING!!!!
While this wedding is STUNNING, I am completely speechless that a couple so "private" that not one person is invited to their wedding is willing to share it with millions on the web? That is all I can think about as I look at these pictures.
Caveat: I don't think that people who volunteer to put their weddings in the blogosphere deserve to have their wedding psychoanalyzed or picked apart by commenters. Not pointing out anyone in particular, I'm just sayin' :)
However, I agree that some background from the couple about the unusual choices they made would help readers relate. I know SMP is all about the visual, but it would be nice to hear from the bride or groom regarding how they felt about the process and their decision to share this intimate wedding with the world. I think THAT is what makes this wedding unique, not the decor, and unfortunately it was glarinlgy absent from the posts.
This is beautiful. I'm a fan of the wedding for two and would have loved for someone to feature my own private elopement because I was very proud of it. We took off one weekend and were married in a ceremony that was just the two of us. I hired a photographer, wore a gown and veil, we had a unity candle, rose ceremony, we cut a cake and had a private dinner at the golf course where we were married. It was perfect. It was romantic. It was personal. It was intense. Honestly, my memories of that ceremony with just the two of us are more precious to me than the big ceremony and "marriage celebration" we had later in the year with our friends and family. We decided on that approach because we were in love and didn't want to wait to be together, I didn't want to shack up, I plan events and wanted to make it special, I loved the opportunity to have two ceremonies with different styles and dresses, we had not planned to tell our families until after our big ceremony but I couldn't keep it to myself. If I could have hired Lisa Vorce, I would have. :) I highly recommend the wedding for two.

This is truly a beautiful wedding from some of my favorite people, and I love the idea of the "wedding for two". Clients can often get a bit wrapped up in family "drama", for lack of a better word, and it's lovely to think if this day being only about the bride and groom. Well done! It's so pretty, you guys.
This is a gorgeous wedding! Congrats on doing it your way!
THE most adorable wedding I have ever seen - I wish it was mine!!
I have been looking at SMP everyday for awhile (i check it after i check my email when i get home from work)...and i have never posted a comment. I cannot help myself with this wedding. This is the most breathtaking wedding i have ever seen...the setting, the ceremony draping, the dress, the headpiece, and the photography! It is all so perfect and romantic, I cannot believe it even exists. :)
I <3 this wedding! Where did she get her dress? I love it so much!
Who did the invitation?
This is really beautiful. Love the bride's style. I am going to link back to this in my super sunday round up xx thanks.
Wow! I mean seriously...WOW!!! I love they stayed true to what they wanted for their wedding and it was just the two of them. To me your wedding day is exactly that...YOUR DAY! And man! did they ever do their day how they wanted it and in such gorgeous style!
What's up with the groom in the weeds?
I love some of the camera angles. Everything in this wedding looks so neat and clean.
Beautiful wedding! Who did the marriage announcement in the photo? It would be beautiful as an invitation as well! Thanks!
This is a stunning wedding. I cannot get over at the level of detail and planning for such a intimate wedding. Absolutely amazing!
First off I am head over heals in love with this wedding, it is so romantic. Would anyone be able to tell me where the table linens and the runner on the cake table are from, I have been looking for something similar to these for the past few months. Thank you! :o)
Question for the bride - where did you get the ceremony fixture? Thank you for sharing your lovely day.
Gorgeous!
Stunning! I would like to know where the fabric for the ceremony structure came from.
I read all comments and agree and could not think what else to say...just beautiful!

This is breathe taking!! I've been toying with this Wedding For Two idea myself and they just slam dunked the idea. I've always said I want an intimate wedding and everyone else can just see the pictures. No need to gather everyone or feed and get a bunch of people drunk on my dime. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!
