The vision for our wedding was “Vintage Rustic Chic”. Infusing vintage touches to a rustic atmosphere at the Walnut Grove Tierra Rejada Ranch in Moorpark, CA. Both Mark and I love old things and wanted to incooperate our love for vintage into our wedding and so it evolved! It started by looking around the house to find old suitcases quilts, and vintage pieces. We thought the older, the more rustic, the better! And since it was completely outdoors we wanted to bring hints of the “Indoors” out. Providing pillows and quilts to lay across haybails for people to sit on and windows to make it look like you were indoors. For our flowers we wanted it to look as if we had just picked them from wildflower fields and put them in our grandmas jam jar. With a combination of mustard yellow, pops of red, blue, and hints of green the tables were adorned.. And so through a collection of mismatched napkins, mason Jars, birdcages, lanterns, old vintage luggage, windows, chalkboards, vintage cake plates, dressers & nightstands, and some DIY projects our vintage wedding came to life!

I attended Whitney and Mark's wedding (I am family) and it was as much fun as it was beautiful! Attention was paid to every detail. During the ceremony, I loved the two little boys in vintage dress carrying the "Here comes the Bride" banner ahead of Whitney. Wonderful wedding!!

The details were incredible! Having been there I can attest to the fact that everything was a perfect and gorgeous blend of rustic and chic! There was an overflowing abundance of vintage charm and indoor warmth even though it was completely outdoors. These pics could not contain the incredible amount of detail that went into this glorious occasion. It was a sight to behold! Obviously you can tell that the atmosphere was super inviting visually but be sure that the details of the scene were also brilliantly laid out socially as well. With different points of interest like lawn games to try between ceremony and reception, a coffee bar to visit as well as various drink stations, food set throughout the surrounding area, a welcome area with love notes to write the couple on vintage post cards instead of a guestbook, the flow of people mixing and mingling was a dream! And I have to comment that not only were the desserts a feast for the eyes, but a delight and joy for the tastbuds as well. Totally recommend Sweet and Saucy as well as all the other vendors. Nothing was lacking from this perfect evening.

The dress is #1006 in the Jim Hjelm Blush collection. I purchased this dress just three weeks ago! It's very affordable and just as pretty in person. The lace is cotton and SO comfortable. I was so excited to see it on SMP so shortly after I bought it.

Where did you find the love notes banner? I am doing a similar suitcase for my wedding and love it! I LOVE this wedding.

    December 29, 2010 at 3:24 pm

    Hi!!

For the "Love Notes' banner suitcase.....it is actually a DIY project that I did for the wedding....made from Rustic Scrapbook paper...that is clipped with small clothespins on a rope. then I had this old suitcase & attached it ..:) I know you can buy them from different websites as well, like etsy.com etc.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

    xoxo, The bride :)

Absolutely one of the most gorgeous weddings I have ever seen. I can only imagine how wonderful it would have been in person. Bravo to you both. Sending you warm wishes for a wonderful life together. Congratulations!
(Also: did you do homemade limeade or lemonade? One of the pictures looks like you have huge glass crocks of that. Great idea if so!)

    Hi Rachel,

The grooms Boutonniere were made from twigs and Billy Balls (Yellow ball flowers). :) hope this helps!

Beautiful wedding Whitney! I was wondering where you got the groom's suit and the groomsmen suits. My fiance and I are hoping for a similar look but can't figure out how to get it without $500 a suit!

I love those brown boots. where are they from??

  46. Whitney
    January 19, 2011 at 3:33 pm

    Hi Ladies,

    To answer some questions! :)

The Groomsmen's suit are from Zara. They were really reasonably priced about $130-140 and they got to keep it! ;)

The boots are from Urban Outfitters.

    Hope this helps!
    Always, Whitney

I would have had the Tri Tip BBQ'd instead of broiled. Just a thought. However for a 57 year old male, very nicely done. I liked the Love Notes idea.

Hi there! I love your wedding! It is like my dream wedding. But I'm too much of a worry-wart to have an outdoor wedding. I love all of the rustic details but don't quite know how to go about it. I'm trying to find ways to make our venue look a little more vintage like. Who took care of the clean up after? Did that prove to be a problem? We are having an October wedding in the mountains of Maryland next year. Any advise on how to make a more modern venue look more vintage/rustic? Thank you!!!

[...] This dessert display from a wedding featured on Style Me Pretty! It is pure perfection.  A+ for use of the drawer. I am a big fan of utilizing furniture for wedding decor. I myself used a vanity table out of my bedroom and we put the basket of kippahs and the programs on it. I wanted to have the drawer pulled out with the programs in it, but it wasn’t sturdy enough and it was sagging down. But this looks ahhhhmazing! Great photography by Wildflowers Photography as well!
