It’s crazy to think that you could literally grow up thousands of miles away from someone and still meet and fall in love. That Cupid is a tricky devil, but once these two sweeties met (she’s from Australia, he’s from Nebraska), it was sooo obviously meant to be. From the Bride… Even today it feels like a miracle that Josh and I were able to meet and fall in love. We grew up two worlds apart – I, in a small West Australian farming community and Josh in Hooper, Nebraska. Somehow, our paths crossed 5 years ago while I was in my senior year of college, and the rest is history!
Although we live in the US we knew we had to have our wedding in beautiful Perth. Planning our day from so far away was a challenge but we had amazing help from Professional Misconduct as well as family and friends. I always knew my wedding would be under the stars on a hot summers night so hosting the reception on the patio of Lamont’s Bishops House was an easy choice for us. Not to mention the incredible food we enjoyed including a Wagyu beef main course. A highlight of the night was a surprise lobster starter course. All 50 lobster tails were supplied by my uncle, who is a fisherman off the coast of West Australia! The wedding cake also needs a special mention as it was made from scratch by my mother – a beautiful 5 tier cake lovingly decorated with lace details and a cascade of handmade flowers. My brother created a magnificent double-door entry for us using doors from our farm house where we grew up. I’ll never forget how I felt walking through them into the reception area and seeing all of our family and friends, many of whom had travelled internationally to be there for us.
Josh has known Pastor Chuck for 10 years so it was important to us that he was part of our day. He officiated a very emotional ceremony at Wesley Uniting Church with many laughs along the way – especially when he confessed to the crowd that he did not have a passport the week before the wedding! It meant so much to us to hear afterward from friends and family how moved they were during the ceremony. From Josh’s tears as I walked down the aisle to our prayers after lighting the unity candle I think it was evident to everyone the depth of our love for each other.
From the Church we were whisked away to King’s Park, a gorgeous public park in the middle of Perth City with a stunning backdrop of the Swan River. We were driven by GranTourismo who went above and beyond to help make our day even more special. From providing an iPod and dock for music during photos, to making sure our glasses were always topped up, these guys did so much more than hold open doors and drive cars! Lastly, our photographer Dave from Dave&Charlotte Lifestyle Photographers kept us relaxed and in the moment as he worked his creative magic from behind the camera. Without a doubt, one of the best decisions we made in planning our wedding was hiring Dave&Charlotte to capture every moment.
From seeing Josh in his custom Henry A. Davidson suit at the Church to the way my Pnina Tornai dress swayed across the floor during our first dance there is nothing I would change about our day. It was more than I ever imagined and the most unbelievable way to start our lives together.
