Perth Engagement Session

I’m a lover of all e-sessions, but if I had to choose favorites, it would be those sweet shoots that really give us a sneak peek into who the couple really is.  Those breathtaking days spent frolicking around a darling duo’s hot spots, whether it be the cozy cafe they spend their weekends or the beach that made them fall in love with Australia.  See every gorgeous moment captured by Nicolle Versteeg right here.

From Nicolle Versteeg Photography… Jena and Cole are two beautiful people who are originally from Canada and live in Perth. They have chosen to tie the knot this August back home in Canada. Before doing so, Jena and Cole wanted to capture their life and love for one another in Perth to share with family and friends back home. Jena and Cole came to me to document their love story by integrating locations that are very close to their heart, such as the local quirky café and stunning beach. I very eagerly said yes!

From the Bride-to-Be… Cole and I have been dating for nine years. We met in our hometown of St.Albert, Alberta, Canada through mutual friends. We slowly started going to the same parties and same bars and we really hit it off. He was playing hard to get, but I won him over.  Through our early 20’s, Cole took Engineering and I took Nursing at school. We both love our jobs and practice in Perth.

Piccolo’s Corner is the first restaurant we went to in Perth. It is the cutest little cafe and we have so many memories there of yummy breakfasts, long talks and a calming atmosphere. We love to sneak away there and enjoy the garden in the back and take a minute to slow down life in this fast-paced world.

City Beach was the first Beach we went to in Perth. We were driving up oceanic drive and came over the last hill and saw the most beautiful beach in the word with the turquoise water, white sand, and warm sun. We fell in love with Australia in that instant. We wanted to capture that exact feeling that we got when we saw city beach for the first time. We never miss Canada and its cold winters when we have this gorgeous stretch of coastline.

Sophisticated Resort Wedding In Perth

If you look up elegant in the dictionary, I wouldn’t be surprised if Merriam-Webster decided to included this in an updated definition. The bride’s lace gown from Collezione pairs perfectly with the pink roses from Budding Stars and the expansive greenery at the Joondalup Resort. Amelia Claire Fine Art Photography captured every beautiful detail, so make sure to take a peek at the full gallery for more nuptial grandeur.

From Amelia Claire Fine Art PhotographyHeni and Rowyn’s wedding was so full of sweetness and happiness I could barely contain myself. The look of pure love and adoration on Rowyn’s face as Heni walked down the aisle was unforgettable. They had been friends for many years before they started dating so this celebration was not just between lovers but also between best friends.

Their wedding was filled with classic elegance and beautiful simple details, from the stunning lace dress to the sweet and colorful bouquet. Their ceremony and reception were both held at Joondalup Resort in Perth and both contained an air of sophistication and with the beautiful Australian sun, we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.

Traditional Perth Wedding

Admittedly, I am a little biased when it comes to the work of Ben Yew Photography + Film.  I mean, from the moment I first laid eyes on his stunning images, I’ve been jockeying for position as his #1 fan.  But, honestly… with weddings like this one filling our work days, you can hardly blame me.  It’s absolute perfection in every sense of the word. See soooo much more right here.

From Ben Yew Photography + Film… What I love about this wedding? Everything! I guess its a combination of elegance, raw emotions and not forgetting lots of fun, especially during the bridal party photos. I think especially for the groomsmen, it looked like they were going for “The Great Gatsby” theme. One of my favorite photo of the day was Diana’s dad seeing her for the first time in her bridal gown and got a bit emotional.

From the Bride & Groom… Mark and I were born in the same little hospital, in the same small country town of Donnybrook, WA. Mark being 2 years older meant we never spoke at school. Little did we know, we would end up marrying 15 years later! We had both moved to Perth after high school, where Mark added me on MySpace and asked me out on a date. I was 18 and Mark was 20. We went from small town country kids, to living in Melbourne and South Korea together… and so it went from there.

Our wedding day began standing underneath an arch of Donnybrook stone in the cutest chapel at St George’s College, Nedlands. Here we said our vows in front of the people closest to us, and a priest who was a childhood family friend from Donnybrook. The chapel was decorated with white wisteria trees and candles down the aisle. A string quartet entertained guests. We walked back down the aisle to “Concerning Hobbits” from Lord of the Rings, a happy piece of music!

Our wedding reception was held at Fraser’s Kings Park overlooking the Perth skyline and Swan River. It was an elegant all white affair, accented with large pink, purple and yellow blooms encasing silver candelabras as centerpieces. Small matching vases with flowers and candles sat on the tables. To tie in with the ceremony, white wisteria trees were dotted around the venue.

We added whimsical touches to our day. A Hello Kitty bride and groom sat on top of our three-tier wedding cake decorated with blooms. A pink vintage typewriter was on display for our guests to type up their messages and the bonbonniere was handmade by my mum and nanna. It held sugared almonds representing my Italian heritage.

I work in advertising and specialize in social media, so naturally Pinterest is where I found all of my inspiration for my wedding. Cutting up magazines and creating mood boards is another way to piece together your day. Having mood boards is a great way to look back on your day. Now we’re moving on to our honeymoon in the Maldives at Constance Halaveli Resort, complete with an over water bungalow and private plunge pool.
