What do you get when you pair the stylish streets of Melbourne with a soon-to-be-wed couple as chic as these two? Well, it appears you get one downright fabulous engagement session. And thanks to the stunning images from Neiyo Photography, we get to soak up every last bit. From Neiyo Photography… This has got to be one of the most fun I have ever had on an engagement session! A super visual creative couple, Phil, graphic designer & Jo , Fashion Blogger from Love Chic Styling. As we were planning their engagement session, Jo said that she was after rustic walls, cafes and quirky shots. The week before we had decided to go to a cafe for their engagement shoot, I found this beautiful rustic big wall that would be perfect for a shoot with balloons. That same afternoon, Jo messaged me asking me what my thoughts are on balloons….so I advised her to get 3 big round 90cm helium balloons.The shoot was so much fun, every time we thought we were done, I would spot another ‘shot’. I guess thats why we love the backstreets of Melbourne!

Love stories captured by Stewart Leishman Photography are most definitely on my list of favorite things. Because I know when I get a bundle of beautiful images he snapped up, I know I am going to be in for a treat of image after image of shear perfection. From the Bride… Cathy is Melbournian, King is Canadian, and they’ve been together on a three-year Long-Distance-Relationship ever since they met in Beijing. From worlds apart and through modern technology, stringing together experiences like Cathy & King’s relationship is nothing short of marvellous. The pair first met at a Christmas party where they exchanged very little words. It wasn’t until a year later at a church small group where they “officially” met. And not just their eyes, but hearts too. Their divine ‘match-making’ process took place during a small group activity of Rick Warren’s 40 Days of Love, where King happened to pull out Cathy’s name on his paper. The rule was, everyone had to practice a brotherly/sisterly act of care to whomever name they got. Three weeks of Skype chats later, say hello to a new couple in the group!

After 3 months of dating it was time for Cathy to return to Melbourne. Not wanting to let the epic moments go, they decided to embark on the unknown journey of Long-Distance-Relationship; by faith that if they were meant to be together, God would do miracles. It turned out to be the greatest risk with most fulfilling rewards they have ever experienced yet. Just two weeks before Christmas 2012, King flew to Melbourne with a mission that would bring them a huge step closer to their future together. He popped the question and of course she said “Yes”. They are currently still in a long-distance but are planning their wedding for sometime mid-next-year.

Fr0m Kirralee Photography… Vicki and Pedro’s Melbourne wedding at Abbotsford Convent was a simply beautiful celebration to photograph.

I think what made this wedding special was the exuberance and romance that surrounded Vicki and Pedro, and their family and friends. Vicki was the blushing bride and she wore a stunning lace dress made by New York designer Lazaro. Her hair was beautifully vintage with a sweeping wave reminiscent of a bygone era.

Pedro stood tall and handsome. He had a very original look, with a slim fitting grey suit and a formal bow tie. They were married underneath a gorgeous bower of pink, purple and white roses draped amongst luscious greenery in the courtyard of Abbotsford Convent, one of Melbourne’s iconic heritage properties. Flowers girls dressed in cute blush coloured dresses from Seed Kids held up a sign draped with ribbons that read `here comes the bride, while the guests waved small handcrafted congratulations flags.

Wedding styling company The Style Co adorned the ceremony and reception with hundreds of flowers and greenery that gave the space a real sense of wild beauty. These wild flowers and simple beauties filled the celebration with fresh vivacity.

Pedro is Brazilian and family and friends came from Brazil and all over the world to help the couple celebrate. Each table at the reception had a label that named where the guests were from. 

Pedro said he admired how self-confident and genuine Vicki was and Vicki said she was won over by how Pedro made her feel so comfortable and special when they were together. Pedro made a surprise proposal to Vicki at the Qantas check-in as they were about to travel to Jamaica. He carefully handed a camera to the woman at the check-in counter and bent down on one knee before asking her to marry him!
