From the Bride… Our wedding day was about including as many family and friends as possible making it more personal and cutting down on the overall cost. My sister made our wedding cake, my brother played the guitar for the processional (The Beatles, Here Comes The Sun) and my mother made my wedding dress which all up cost under $300, meaning I was able to splurge on my shoes. While the Bridesmaids where at the hairdresser, my Sister in law did my hair at ‘Vacy Hall’ and the flower girls as a wedding gift.

I collected or made most of the décor in the 12 months prior and arranged for friends to set everything up on the day. I sourced most of the personalised items from eBay and spent the days before folding programs, covering jam jars, water bottles, printing menu cards, stamping place cards and arranging photo displays. It was a very hands on wedding! A week before the wedding I still didn’t have anything to decorate the cake with so I decided to make some flowers which have now been made into a cushion.

At the Ceremony we arranged for a 30 person flash mob Choir to sing ‘Moon River’ when we signed the marriage certificate which surprised everyone, even the bridal party.

James father loves card tricks so we also arranged for a magician to come for the first hour of the reception and entertain the guests.

Instead of a guests book we placed advice cards on everyone’s place setting and collected these at the end of the night in order to frame. As we didn’t want to have a slow Bridal waltz we decided to dance to Jimmy Barnes, ‘(Your love keeps lifting me) Higher and Higher’ .
