This bride’s lovely latte Elizabeth de Varga Exclusive Fashions tea length dress is so superb it deserves it’s own album. Luckily, Calli B Photography snapped plenty of pics of the pearl encrusted prettiness, so we could make one. We didn’t do that here though, because there are just too many too-cute crafty touches we couldn’t bear not to share from this Terrace of Maleny wedding. Plus, we’d never let you miss the big beautiful blue and yellow freckled Mondo Floral Designs bouquet. See the delectable dress and all the rest in the full gallery!
Even though there were a few mini disasters like the wedding car breaking down the week of the wedding, the DJ cancelling and rain the whole week before the wedding day, Shantelle and Marty’s day itself was blissful, beautiful and perfect.
Photography was by Calli B Photography. Calli has a unique style that captures all the moments in the day with such vibrancy. The ceremony was at Little White Church in Maleny and the reception was at the Terrace of Maleny. The brides gown was an Elizabeth De Varga and this was definitely Shantelle’s dream dress. “To me that dress couldn’t have been more romantic and more me! When I looked in that mirror I saw my wedding and it was a very overwhelming feeling” says the bride. The grooms suit was Roger David, bridesmaids dresses were from Forever New and cake by Sweet Creations.
The flowers were by Mondo Flowers and the bride’s bouquet were pale blue hydrangea, white dahlias, ivory & cream open bloom roses, yellow billy buttons, and yellow spray roses. The stems were bound with the off cuts from Shantelle’s wedding dress, which was a latte dupion silk and finished with pearl pins. The couple wanted an earthy garden Australian feel to their flowers. The table centerpieces all had vases that were from the bride’s mothers home who never throws out anything!. They had antique vases, old glass milk jars, the bride’s grandmothers water jug and wine bottles.
The couple hired a Rolls Royce from Something Blue Limousine Hire, rings were from Saleras Engagement and wedding bands from Michael Hill Jewelers, bride’s shoes were from Style Tread and this was very important as the wedding dress was short. Hair and make-up were by Jodie Lee Style Team and the couple made all the stationary themselves.
The ceremony was so memorable and the whole day went so quickly. The bride recalls “the whole thing is a blur. I remember seeing Marty and the rush of emotion. I remember kissing him and never being happier. I remember a sea of smiling faces. All my moments are blurred together”.
The whole wedding was very quirky. Paper flowers that took the couple a long time to make lined the aisle of the chapel; yellow and brown fitting in with their colour palette of mainly blue, yellow, brown and cream. They printed their programs on kraft brown paper and held them together with flower split pins that matched the original invitations. The programs were kept in a brown picnic basket with a chalk board sign tied with string. They had a chalkboard welcome sign to match the girls chalkboard love heart bouquets. The love heart wands were sprayed and painted with black chalk board paint and written on them were “s and m.”
Bomboniere were jam jars from a flea market filled with Rock Candy from My Lollies. The entire planning of the wedding was certainly a labour of love for the couple who opted not to use a stylist or wedding planner. Other little things Shantelle and Marty had in the reception were old romance novels placed around the place to remind the guests that all romances are love stories in the making. Burlap as the table runners to give that Australian country feel. Photos in different frames of family members on their wedding days. They made a treasure chest for guests to put their well wishes in that they intend to open in one year. An antique gold frame with pictures of the couple from their engagement shoot. Everything was picked out or made to reflect Marty and Shantelle… Australian. Quirky. Different. Growing. Grounded.
The wedding night was spent at Spicer Tamarind Resort Maleny. “The best resort I have ever stayed at. The grounds were so nice the rooms were so lavish the staff so friendly. I mean seriously what resort has its own natural waterfall. It was bliss. We loved it so much so we stayed a few extra nights” Shantelle exclaims!
