From the Bride… Standing before our loved ones declaring our commitment and love for one another was pure JOY!  As Christ is the centre of our relationship, we wanted the focus to be on Him and for God to be honoured on our day. We were married where we met, a church that used to be a toyota factory, so we had so much fun styling it with family and friends the day before. I didn’t have a set theme, but I decided “summer garden party” with white, blush and mint tones to be the best way to sum it up!

Daniel proposed at the airport whilst I was in airline uniform in June 2012, and we were married in February 2013.

The dress, oh my, the dress. I was thrilled it was created by an Australian designer and as soon as I tried it on I met my mother’s eyes and we both knew! Collette Dinnigan’s staff were so lovely and even let me run around their boutique and jump on their lounge in excitement wearing my beautiful princess gown “pearls and palms.”

Before we got engaged I would stand outside my florist and gaze at her sweet creations. Emma was so willing and beautiful in character and created the most beautiful bouquet! I asked for a surprise, listing my favourite flower, and on the day a gorgeous bouquet complementing my gown perfectly, arrived. The bridesmaids wore wrist corsages, and carried parasols from pink frosting and clutches by Mimco.

It really was a community feel with so many of our friends sharing their talents and time. A friend provided the cars, another made our yummy cake, which was white chocolate raspberry with roses by T2. One of my favourite moments was seeing my youth group girls lead worship and music at the ceremony, they were so talented! My brothers also played in the band. A dear friend whom I’d travelled to India on a missions trip is a wedding singer, and she performed “Sailboats” by Brooke Fraser as I walked down the aisle. The worship was led by another missionary Jen with an incredible voice. I held hands with my dad during “amazing grace”. Both my parents walked me down the aisle as Dan’s parents stood with him. Our pastor Luke Harris led an incredible service. I invited my dearest friends to sign the register and read from Ephesians. We danced out to “Everything Has Changed” by Taylor Swift.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cupcakes and sipped on drinks with pretty straws.  (I love the small, pretty details!) Some of the jars/vases were from empty soda bottles off the plane, which I collected with permission during my work as a flight attendant. You could hear me clinking through the terminal! They were wrapped with doilies and twine. With our bridal party, we enjoyed coffee from our favourite espresso bar Bianco Nero in Gymea, before making our way to an open field for some intimate and beautiful photos by our now life long friend and photographer David Robertson! He was warm and unintrusive, and made us feel relaxed!

We held a Chinese tea ceremony to honour Dan’s heritage, although he was born in England his parents are from Malaysia and Vietnam, and it was important to us that we honour them this way.

My gorgeous friend Jacqui made our yummy cake, and guests enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere at our cocktail reception at an art gallery. The Candy bar was very popular, as was our Photo Booth, using the bench and backdrop from our register signing table at the ceremony!

My hair and makeup artists were relaxed, professional and lovely. My wonderful cousin Shirley spent hours altering my dress, making my veil and headpiece, and I can’t thank her enough. My shoes I found for nine dollars on sale, pale pink heels from Payless! so pretty.

We honeymooned in Fiji for a week. If I could offer one piece of advice, i remember the day as “good blur”. Take some time to spend alone with your hubby, even a five minute walk on the day. I treasure those moments…
