Intimate Byron Bay Wedding

Beautiful days like this are exactly the reason I love my job so very, very much.  The stunning simplicity paired with some of the finest vendors in the business (think Julie CorbetPassion@flowers Byron Bay and Michelle Shannon) seriously takes your breath away, and the gorgeous gallery captured by Byron Loves Fawn is almost too much to handle.  Thank you, lovely bride and groom.  You’re awesome.  See it all here.

From the Bride… A month after having our baby, we decided to book our first family holiday to our most favorite place in the world, Byron Bay.

Somehow, sometime, we decided it just felt right to get married whilst we were there… We originally planned to elope, but then decided that we wanted to have our closest family there, too. Byron Bay is such a special place, when you get there you just feel so happy, like all your troubles are left behind.

The day before the wedding it was pouring rain – but thankfully, as we woke on the morning of the wedding, the sun came out and it was perfect!

We chose to get married under a beautiful purple flowering tree at Ewingsdale Hall. Eli, who is a builder by trade, built the archway himself out of a 100-year-old door frame, which was really special. The whole family got involved and helped us to decorate and set up the ceremony. Eli’s mum spent weeks before the wedding helping us by hand-making little
decorations and details that made the day special.

Eight years and one month after the first day we became a couple (exactly), at 11am on a Friday morning, we stood in front of 20 people, and our eight little nieces and nephews, and we finally became husband and wife.

“May this ring always belong to the hand of the one I love. This hand holds my heart forever.”

After the ceremony and photos we all went out to lunch at Byron Beach Cafe, which has an amazing view of the beach and super tasty food. The day was one of the most special days of our lives.

At the end of the day we all went down to Clarkes Beach and had a swim in the ocean. It was a perfect Byron Bay day. The day couldn’t have been more perfect. We felt euphoric!  “I promise to love you forever. I promise you this from my heart, for all the days of my life.”

Our Celebrant was Michelle Shannon.  Michelle was the most lovely celebrant. Both of us instantly felt so comfortable and happy with her from the moment we first met her. She took away any stress and instead made us feel so excited.  I asked around the different vendors we chose in Byron Bay for a celebrant they recommended and most said her. I am so glad I went with the recommendations as I  could not have imagined having anyone else!  Her passion and love for her job really shine through. All our family kept saying how lovely she was and how comfortable they felt with her. It is so important to chose the right celebrant, and we would highly recommend her to anyone.

Our photography team was Byron Loves Fawn.  Brett and Kristie are a husband and wife photography team that shoot with real film. They were so lovely and after a few minutes we felt like we were old friends. I love their style of photography, so whimsical, beautiful and artistic.

I wanted to go with simple flowers that looked like they had just been picked from a garden. Passionate flowers were really helpful and friendly. I ended up going with easter daisies and baby’s breath for the bouquets and white tea roses and baby’s breath for the hair circlets. When the flowers arrived in the morning they were perfect and I knew then
the day was going to be awesome.

I am so glad I went with Julie Corbet for makeup and hair. It is one very important thing for a bride and you put a lot of trust into the artist doing it, that they will do a good job. I couldn’t have been happier, she was so natural, friendly and down to earth. She said she would just try to accentuate what I had instead of making me look like someone else, which was exactly what I wanted as I don’t usually wear heavy makeup. I loved the way my hair and makeup turned out for the day. She was great, I highly recommend her!

Rustic Chic Australian Shoot at Gurragawee

Consuming prettiness is part of the job description at SMP, and today I am thanking my lucky stars that my job is to simply eat up every single gorgeous detail of this stunning shoot designed by Victoria Cameron and captured by Feather + Stone. Honestly, there are no words. The dress from MXM Couture? To die. The florals from The French Petal? Ridiculous. Honestly, everything in this gallery is beyond, and you can see it all here.

From Victoria CameronThe wonderfully talented Seth and Tenielle from Feather + Stone held their first photography Field Day (a condensed version of their popular Field Trips) in early October and I was lucky enough to be invited to coordinate and design the day.

With the private estate Gurragawee as the backdrop the opportunities were endless. Inspired by neutral tones and muted silks, a restrained elegance paired with refined French Provincial touches was adopted for the styling.

Timber French bistro chairs tied with loosely structured floral arrangements lined the aisle with the ceremony arbor adorned in flowing neutral fabric and a muted green foliage chandelier (how amazing is this?!) providing the perfect backdrop.

Move on to the reception and you have beautiful buttoned lounges and ottomans positioned to the side of the gorgeous table setting. Using a base of luxurious brown sugar silk, unstructured floral arrangements and brass candle holders lined the table. Layered off-white base plates held what has to be my personal favourite styling element…the oatmeal linen napkins loosely bundled and holding the stunning calligraphy place cards (though I do also love the sweet escort card display).

With the beautiful bride wearing a couture MXM gown (it was seriously breathtaking!) and the groom in a classic Wil Valor suit it was a memorable and enjoyable day for all involved.

Byron Beach Cafe Wedding

With temperatures hovering just around freezing and snowflakes threatening to fall at any minute (yes, even in Las Vegas), this gorgeous Byron Bay affair is a welcome addition to my Tuesday evening.  Because not only is it chock-full of sun-filled (+ beautiful) images captured by Nick Evans, it’s one of those joyous occasions you just can’t get enough of.  Think smiling faces and hugs for everyone.  Don’t waste another minute and get your pretty on right here.

From Nick Evans Photography… Bridget and Adam chose Byron as the base for their wedding – a location close to their hearts, one where Bridget had spent many a family holiday growing up. Byron Bay is one of those places that always seems to turn on some magic. The stunning scenery, a calm peaceful oceanside setting and some amazing weather all combine into something special.

A morning ceremony (11am) at the stunning Fig Tree at Byron located on top of a hill overlooking Byron Bay with views to the lighthouse, was followed by a lunch time reception at the Byron Beach Cafe with 60 of their closest family and friends. After some heartfelt speeches we took a quick stroll down to the beach to catch some photos with an amazing sunset.

From the Bride… We got engaged in September 2012 and had been planning on getting married in May 2014. In February this year, we just decided that that was too far away and we really wanted to get married sooner. May is one of the most beautiful months in Byron Bay, so we thought why not get married this May, which was in 3 months’ time. We chose the 17th as we wanted a Friday wedding and a Friday wedding meant that we could enjoy the whole weekend with our family and friends.

My parents have a holiday home in Byron Bay that we always holiday at and it is a very special place for us. We wanted to have a destination wedding with lots of events planned over the weekend where both of our families could really get to know each other and Byron Bay was the perfect spot.

We had a morning Ceremony at The Fig Tree Restaurant in Ewingsdale NSW followed by a lunch at The Byron Beach Café and then we had an after party at my parent’s holiday home in Lawson Street, Byron Bay.

I wanted an all-white wedding with a touch of Navy! I love an elegant and simple style and wanted to have simplistic decorations to heighten the appeal of our surroundings.  The weather was incredible, we could not have asked for a more beautiful day. We had an outdoor wedding so it was a bit of a risk with the horrible weather that we had been having recently but we truly were blessed that day.
