When a bride and groom’s first order of business for their impending nuptials is selecting a band, you know their wedding is going to be one fun and fabulous party. And when that bride also happens to be an event planner, well, you know it’s going to be one fabulous looking party, as well. And that’s just what we have with these uber-stunning Perth nuptials by Photography by Emma Pointon. From the brilliant florals by Lesley Parkin (those centerpieces are ah.ma.zing) to a wedding cake too pretty to eat (love) to a pair of fantastic pink, sparkly heels, there isn’t a detail in this soiree that isn’t absolutely gorgeous. From the Bride… Dave and I wanted a relaxed party atmosphere for our wedding and a band was the first thing we decided on. We picked Proof as we had seen them play at a friends’ wedding and at a few balls and we knew that they would be perfect to get everyone on the dance floor. They were amazing and old and young were up dancing all night.
I work as a corporate events coordinator so organizing our wedding was one of the most exciting and nerve-racking things I have ever done. I think Dave was happy once the wedding was over and all of the bridal magazines were finally put away! Moore and Moore was the only venue we looked at and we fell in love it the moment we visited it. It encompassed the laid back atmosphere we wanted as well as being a little different. We decided on canapés in the courtyard rather than a sit down entree as we wanted to start the reception with a laid back feel. The courtyard was gorgeous with lots of fairy lights and candles and we had a lot of positive comments from our guests.
I love everything sparkly and a little over the top and I thought that my wedding dress would be nothing different. After trying on sparkly dresses I ended up picking something very simple which was a surprise, though the minute I put the dress on I knew it was the one. I blinged it up a bit with a gorgeous flower belt with pearls and crystals. My friend Mel and I took a trip to Melbourne to find my wedding shoes and we both knew the minute we saw them that they were the ones. They were two of my favourite things – pink with sparkles and the best part – sparkly soles! My something borrowed and old was a pearl necklace belonging to my grandmother who is sadly no longer with us and my something blue was a blue topaz ring that belongs to my Mum.
My family heritage is Scottish and I lived in Edinburgh, Scotland, for ten years when I was a child, so I wanted to incorporate some of this heritage into our wedding. My Mum was keen for us to have a piper but I kept telling her over and over that I didn’t want one at the wedding. Unbeknownst to my family I had hired a piper to pipe me down the aisle. Dave and I were the only people who knew about the piper and the look on my Mum’s face when we arrived at the ceremony and saw the piper was priceless! Our wedding was an amazing day with lots of laughter and fun that we were lucky to share with our closest family and friends. It was such a great day I think that we should do it every year!
