What is Style Me Pretty all about?
Style Me Pretty is really all about wedding inspiration. It’s about helping brides to design their own unique and personal wedding style. Whether they are inspired by a particular color palette, a beautiful reception venue or even by something as simple as piece of jewelry…Style Me Pretty is about translation your inspirations into a cohesive look and style for your own wedding.
What inspired Style Me Pretty?
Everything. From perfect weddings magazines to my own lovely wedding day…Style Me Pretty is inspired by pretty pictures, by innovative thinkers and designers, by brides and grooms who are excited to infuse their personality into their big day. I try to keep the content fresh and unique, though more importantly…I try to keep it beautiful. The images and ideas that I write about are meant to inspire, to show you that weddings are never one size fits all. Whether you are on a $5,000 budget or a $50,000 budget… Style Me Pretty is a place where ideas thrive and beauty is attainable.
How do you choose the Real Weddings that you feature on Style Me Pretty?
I really don’t have a tried and true way of choosing Real Weddings…I simply pick those that I love. Those that have a unique perspective, a really beautiful color palette or have a ton of personality. Members of our Little Black Book often submit real weddings for the blog, though I also love to receive images from readers!
If you’d like to submit a real wedding for consideration, I’d love to hear from you! Please shoot me an email at abby at style me pretty dot com and include the following information:
1. Your name, Your fiancé’s name, Date of your Wedding
2. 5-10 images that you feel best highlight your big day
3. A brief description as to what made your wedding special
If I do decide to feature your wedding, I will contact you for additional images and information. Oftentimes, it takes a month or more to respond as I get a ton of emails daily. Don’t be shy, though…I love to highlight a wide variety of styles, budgets and cultures!
How should new products be submitted for consideration?
Just send me an email with a brief description, a link to your website and 1-2 product photographs. I choose products that I know our readers will love and that fit with the general scope and style of the blog.
How do Ask Abby questions get selected?
It depends. Sometimes I choose questions based on their topic…if we are writing about color palettes, then I will choose color palette questions that inspire me. If we are writing about wedding dilemma’s, I will choose questions that I know our readers can help with and provide solid feedback. Other times, I choose questions based on the level of panic…sounds crazy, but when I get an email from a frantic bride, I am more likely to answer as I know that weddings come with an expiration date. I will try my best to get back to you regardless of whether or not we feature your question on the blog, however I get between 50-100 Ask Abby questions every day so I do fall behind a bit.
How do you create an inspiration board?
I use Adobe Illustrator to create my inspiration boards and color palettes. It’s a program that is really familiar to me, so it makes the process of designing a board rather seamless. You can download a free trial of Illustrator on the adobe website. With that said, many of our readers use photoshop, power point or microsoft word to design their own, by simply cutting and pasting the images then playing with sizing until they all “fit” together.
Who designed your blog? Who hosts your blog?
The incredible team at Spitfiregirl Design. They worked with me to re-organize my blog based on our reader’s needs. They created our adorable logo, which I love…and designed a site that was streamlined and clean, based on my own aesthetic and creative style. I would recommend Heidi (the designer) and Otis (the coder) to just about anyone!
As for hosting, we use wordpress because of it’s smart design tools and easy to modify templates.
How often to you blog and write articles?
I write Monday thru Friday, no vacation days! I typically blog anywhere from 2-4 times a day and try to stay on the same general topic throughout the day. This gives readers something new to come back to every few hours. I would love to update the blog even more frequently, though my brain doesn’t work that fast. In the future, we are considering recruiting some additional writers to help us generate great new content.
What does the future hold for Style Me Pretty?
I try to not think too far in advance, as I really want the work that I do today and tomorrow to shine. With that said, I do have some goals in mind. I want Style Me Pretty to be a hybrid site…one part blog, one part resource. A place where inspiration thrives and yet you will also find solid resources, vendor recommendations, fun events in your area and so much more. I want Style Me Pretty to be your go-to site when planning your wedding…free of clutter and chaos, filled with style and function.
I am always looking for ways to improve the site…if you have an idea as to how to make Style Me Pretty better, send me an email at abby at style me pretty dot com.
