From the caterer ... I don’t know about you, but when I think Spring, I think of flowers. They represent new life, a fresh start, and of course warm weather. That said, why should the florist get to have all the fun?! We wanted to incorporate the blooms of Springtime in the catering piece as well – this means a Spring Melon Mosaic with edible blossoms like Micro Lovage, Borage, and Sunflower Sprouts. We also wanted to subtly mirror the centerpiece with our paper goods, so we built a whimsical floral border out of the amazing digital catalog offered by the New York Public Library.

From the coordinator/designer... We wanted to create a table for a fresh, young, stylish bride who likes a mix of casual and formal elements. Wave Hill is the perfect venue for a springtime wedding in an amazing garden that feels miles away from NYC even though it’s technically still NYC. We wanted our table to feel as though we brought the garden inside. We created this table design by mixing lots of different textures. Our base was an exquisite ivory lace table linen with beautiful detailing. We then played around with a variety of textures for the place settings, dark brown rattan chargers made the white textured feminine dinner and salad plates pop. We mixed modern stemless glassware with a vintage inspired water glass. One of my favorite elements is the unexpected blue and white toille napkin wrapped around the salad plate. We completed the table with floral inspired menu cards, place cards and table numbers.

From the Florist/event designer... The florals for this table were inspired by a gorgeous Valentino dress Alexa Chung wore at an event recently with beautiful floral embroidery. Pretty and feminine. Much of my inspiration also came from the gardens at Wave Hill, the Wild Garden in the Spring and Summer features so many colors and textures and varieties of flowers. For this piece, I wanted to work with a lot of tiny flowers such as muscari, pansies, lupine and tiny spray roses as well as and unexpected elements such as fiddlehead ferns and spirea. Lots of variety and texture, just like a wild garden. We wanted fresh and vibrant!
