From Art Paper Scissors...Spread across several pristine acres Emmerich Tree Farm encompasses over 5,000 spruces, pine and fir trees nestled in quaint Warwick Valley, New York. A historic homestead rich in family traditions, the location and venue is where much of the inspiration for this shoot was derived. Imagine traditional winter hues of red and green with a modern twist of purple and gold to add layers of richness. Using natural elements we set out to capture the magic that encompasses winter. Cozy blankets, sweaters, pinecones and natural greens stole the scene. The raw beauty of the natural surroundings provided an exemplary backdrop.

We took a vertical approach to the classic welcome table incorporating homemade plum chutney favors, custom calligraphy seating cards, glittery candles and a gold and twig mailbox for cards.

The table was the perfect balance of winter from the mitten tied napkins to the gold rimmed plates, amber glasses and winter greens. A unique approach in lieu of a traditional tablecloth using layered pashmina scarves; incorporating the perfect combination of color while still maintaining the rustic charm of the natural wood table and benches.

Lastly the cakes. We wanted the cakes to add texture to the display. Each cake was designed with a different textured buttercream finish, adorned with hypericum. The design was accented by hand crafted pinecone frames, brass candlesticks and cozy sweater votive candles. And, of course nearby was the roasting fire! To soften the fire pit cable knits, candy canes, gingerbread cookies and hot cocoa for the win. To finish it off was the beautiful invitation suite which incorporated the perfect amount of whimsy with rustic.

I contacted local vendors to participate in making this vision come to life. A huge thank you to everyone, as this would not have been possible without each of you bringing unique ideas and talents to the table. A special thanks to Sarah Tew Photography for capturing the day!
