This past spring I made my first trip to Toronto and quickly feel in love with the history and charm of the city's Distillery District. So just imagine my delight when I found out this stylish duo opted for a celebration in that very same spot. It's one part modern and one classic with a whole lot of love woven in between. From The Bride...Our wedding was more than a joining of two people, it was an opportunity for our two families to come together for the first time and meet one another! Many different cities and countries were represented, from NYC to Seattle, down to Texas, up to Cleveland and across the pond to the UK. Knowing that, we wanted our wedding to feel inviting, warm, friendly, celebratory, and given the timing, spring-like! We chose a gorgeous, intimate venue and coupled it with colorful, spring blooms and DIY décor to give it a personal feel. Take those elements and fill the space with 95 family members and friends and you get one heck of a wedding.

My incredible mom made the wedding cake, a groom’s cake that was inspired by the proposal, the bridesmaids' dresses, flower girl dress and my veil. She is ridiculously talented. For my French Canadian family, we had a bi-lingual officiant that included some French in the ceremony and for everyone’s hungry tummies, “we had a make your own poutine bar” at midnight. To honor Geoff’s late mom, I pinned her cameo to my bouquet, as other Brooks women had done before me. To honor Geoff’s Scottish heritage, the boutonniere’s were inspired by Scottish heather and sprigs of a similar flower were included in my bouquet. We also had “Red, Red, Rose” read during our ceremony by the women closest to us. In previous Brooks weddings, Geoff’s granddad had read the poem.
