I like to believe in another life I was a Southern Belle. Grace and style were my middle name and each day looked exactly like this preppy, striped love affair from Urban Lace Events. Of course, no Southern wedding fantasy would be complete without paper goodies by Chocolate Creative Design, and you can bet I’ll be swooning hard in Eric Kelley’s captures right over here.
From Urban Lace Events… Sarah and Ashby met while both attending college at the University of Virginia. Sarah, a reserved southern lady, was enthralled by Ashby, a world traveler’s, larger than life personality. They enjoyed their final years of college together and spent many weekends visiting the local Charlottesville wineries.
After graduation Sarah and Ashby moved to Northern, Virginia where they continued dating and later became engaged. It didn’t take them long to decide they would have their wedding at King Family Vineyards where they spent many weekends together sipping wine and enjoying the beautiful mountain views. Charlottesville will always have a special place in their hearts and they wanted all of their friends and family to experience the beauty and uniqueness the small college town.
When Sarah and I began working together she had already purchased navy and white striped runners which would act as a starting point in the design process. Sarah and Ashby vocalized their desire for a “preppy” yet casual style wedding. Along with the navy and white stripe, we incorporated poppy pink and gold accents. The ceremony included a altar piece with navy and white striped curtain and a beautiful crystal chandelier. Throughout the ceremony the wind was blowing the glass on the chandelier that made for a beautiful sound.
The bridesmaids wore navy blue dresses from JCrew and held bouquet by Verde Flowers. Together, Lucinda Wesson of Chocolate Creative Design and I designed the floral print that would be used throughout the wedding and in the design of the programs, menu cards, escort cards, and table numbers. Sarah’s favorite design element of the day were the precious escort cards by Chocolate Creative Designs. The design incorporated Sarah and Ashby’s silhouettes stamped with gold glitter. The women’s escort cards were Sarah’s silhouette with a tiny pearl necklace and a pink bow tie while the men’s cards were of Ashby’s silhouette with a navy and white striped bow tie. What says preppy more than a bow ties!?
Sarah ( a true DIY gal) and I worked together to make DIY glitter dipped pillar candles that would be displayed on the reception tables. A project with instruction we found online. For the table numbers we bought frames from the dollar store and wood numbers from Michaels that we sprayed with gold paint. We glued the numbers on the floral print designed by Miss Lucinda Wesson. It was a beautify day and working with this adorable couple was a dream come true. We were fortunate to have Mr. Eric Kelley shooting all these pretty little details.
