From the Bride... To kick off the start of our fairytale engagement, Nicholas proposed to me in a small country town in the West of France in 2012 in front of a 17th century Château which he had booked out for the night. To say I was on cloud nine is putting it lightly! This was the perfect start to our month-long road trip around Europe where Nick continued to surprise me with hiring out castles which we got to stay in, I felt like a modern day princess!

We were living in New York at the time, so as soon as we returned home I was straight in to it covering the majority of bridal shops Manhattan had to offer. Living overseas, we were so tempted to have a destination wedding however since we are both such from large families, it was never to be!

Once we returned back to Melbourne we were straight in to the planning! We had no idea where to start, so thought the best way to get in to it would be to visit the next bridal expo where we came across our venue and straight away we knew it was what we were after! I can happily say all the planning and preparing was pretty easy – I had tremendous help from my Mum, especially with the floral design side of things and Nick was a fantastic help and really involved, too which was nice.

From beginning to end it was an absolute dream. The ceremony was held at St Peter and Paul in South Melbourne where I walked down the aisle to a vocalist singing "I won't give up" By Jason Mraz, this was something I kept a surprise from Nick and it worked out beautifully.

The reception then followed at Showtime Events in South Wharf which is an old industrial shed turned in to an event centre along the rivers edge, the space was really great to work with as it is so open and versatile, the rustic bar to the side of the room was the perfect unique touch.

We really wanted to have the centrepieces to be classic, yet modern, which is why we chose white hydrangeas in tall and round vases on alternating tables with little posies of hydrangeas, and tea lights scattered around. For the favors we had half bottles of Mount Mary Quintet (a famous Australian wine), which is from my Aunt and Uncles vineyard in the Yarra Valley – a very special treat for our guests! My Mum and I did a little DIY job and put them in organza bags tied with hand written name tags on each bottle.

Nick is a major sweet tooth so not including a candy bar was out of the question for him. This is something I left up to Nick - he organized it all and the end result looked fantastic!

I worked with One Day Bridal on the creation of my wedding gown, it was a little nerve racking at times creating something from scratch but I could not have been happier with the outcome. The team at One Day Bridal were incredible to work with. I didn't really know what I wanted at first but after a few meetings with Kyha we decided that strapless, low back and French lace was the way to go! I wanted my bridesmaids in neutral tones to match my ivory gown and some length on the dresses to tie in with our black tie dress code. We had the groomsmen in classic black with black bow ties and Nick, his brother who was his best man and father wore white bow ties. Everyone looked fantastic!

I regularly find myself looking back over the amazing professional photos Jerome took and find myself daydreaming about our special day, it really was a fairy tale. To have such beautiful photos to look back on in many years to come is priceless.

My favourite moment of the day was holding hands with my new husband and looking around at all our friends and family genuinely enjoying what we had spent so long planning for, there was a lot of love in that room that night, a feeling I have never experienced before and one I will never forget.
