FAVORITE BRIDAL PARTY | Confession. Sometimes I think that a beautifully styled bridal party sets the tone for the whole wedding. Totally vain, I know. But this bridal party? Oh man. I wish my whole world looked just like the gowns they are rocking. Photo by Erich McVey
FAVORITE FIRST LOOK | I remember the first time I saw this wedding. Of course the details are ridiculously beautiful. But it was this one image that totally stole my heart. The look of pure joy on her face says everything. She makes me want to be a bride all over again just so that we can have a moment like this. Photo by Abby Jiu.
FAVORITE BOUQUET | Finding my favorite bouquet was like finding a needle in a haystack of the most beautiful flowers ever. After about an hour, I had to finally just pick one. And this one? It’s a keeper. Pretty, girly, filled to the brim with anemones. Photo by Caroline Tran.
FAVORITE WEDDING INVITATION | As a former invitation designer, I love me some paper. The invitation, the menu cards, the thank you notes…they are often among my favorite wedding details. But my real faves are always the ones where personality takes center stage. Like these from Karen O’Bryan.. Photo by Brumley & Wells.
FAVORITE WEDDING DETAIL | Ummm, have you ever seen anything quite as good as this lucite bow and arrow heart filled with escort cards!? It’s pure genius. Colorful, unexpected and absolutely lovely. Just as the very best wedding detail should be. Photo by Jose Villa.
FAVORITE CAKE TOPPER | It’s a cake topper that I sort of want to frame. Or wear. I’m not sure which. What I do know is that this cake topper is ALL about the glam. Timeless, classic, Audrey with a twist glam. And I lurve it. Photo by KT Merry.
FAVORITE ALTERNATIVE WEDDING CAKE | Sometimes, a traditional wedding cake just doesn’t fit the bill. Some weddings require a bit more whimsy, a bit more spunk. And although this was a shoot and not a real wedding, we’re sort of dying to see a good old fashioned ice cream bar with all of the bells and whistles take center stage. Photo by Paige Jones Co.
FAVORITE DESSERT BAR | If there is one wedding trend that I hope never ever goes away, it’s the dessert bar. It’s like the statement piece of a good wedding. But my favorite variety? The really edited, kind modern, room-to-breath kind of dessert bars that we’re starting to see more and more of. Just like this one. Photo by One Love Photography.
FAVORITE ENGAGEMENT RING | Oh my gosh. I’m pretty sure SMP has cornered the market for the most beautiful engagement ring photos a girl could ever want. Literally page upon page of prettiness that would turn any heart a flutter. But my favorites always tend to be those with a bit of character, a bit of history, a bit of that something I’ve never seen before. And this one definitely takes the cake. Photo by KT Merry.
FAVORITE WEDDING PATTERN | Seeing prints and patterns infused into wedding decor makes me happy. And this wedding kind of sets the bar for how to really do it right. With a blue ikat print that screams chic. Crazy, beautiful, gotta have it chic. Photo by Jose Villa.
FAVORITE SHOES | If there is one time in your life when splurging on really gorgeous shoes is totally acceptable…it would be your wedding day. And I’m pretty sure that most of you agree as shoes are some of our most pinned, favorited and shared photos of all time. In fact, these, by Miu Miu were pinned over 700 times! Photo by Kelly Dillon.
FAVORITE WEDDING DRESS | Okay so this is a little bit of a cheat. Because it’s this dress that graced the cover of our First Ever SMP Weddings Book! In fact, there were a few other choices that were at the top of the list and then this little number came into my inbox and it was all over. I am, and always will be, completely, madly, hopelessly in love with this Samuelle Couture masterpiece. Photo by Jose Villa.
FAVORITE ENGAGEMENT SESSION DETAIL | For me, it was a total toss up. Between this shoot from blogger bride Devon Rachel AND this one from Tone It Up Co-Founder Katrina. I mean that kiss…on that bicycle…on that beach!? Beyond. But in the end, it was this insane floral gorgeousness adorned to another pretty bike that ultimately won my heart. Photo by Jana Williams. In fact, both E-Sessions mentioned were from the lovely Jana Williams!
FAVORITE TABLESETTING | This tablesetting pick makes me really happy. It’s girly modern at it’s finest. The lacquered chairs, the mercury glass vases, the pretty in pinks paired with that masculine, rustic wall. Oh, it’s the very definition of opposites attract. Photo by Mango Studios.
FAVORITE CENTERPIECE | This was hard. Almost as hard as choosing my favorite bouquet. Because really, a centerpiece is just one element of the entire puzzle. It’s the flowers paired with perfectly chosen glassware, colors paired with carefully selected china and flatware and linens. A perfect centerpiece is really only made perfect when part of a greater whole. And this one from Kathleen Deery’s wedding is nothing if not entirely perfect in every way. Photo from Jose Villa.
FAVORITE FLORAL MOMENT | There really are no words for this. My guess is that this very image will be the most pinned image of all time on Style Me Pretty. Mark my words. Why? Because it’s shockingly beautiful, utterly romantic and wildly crave worthy. And it might be my favorite flower moment in the history of the world. Photo by Rebecca Lindon.
FAVORITE DIY PROJECT | This project might rival my favorite floral moment for all time most pinned image. Because it’s genius. It’s everything a perfect DIY project should be. It’s doable. It uses easy to find materials. And the impact? Is huge. Photo by Allie Rae.
FAVORITE KISS | Isn’t that what weddings are all about? That first, amazing, never going to be the same kiss? Because amidst all of the pretty details and flowers and shoes and dresses, will always be that kiss. And these two? They definitely know how to make it happen in a big way. Photo by Max Wanger.
FAVORITE POST | Since we posted it, this story has been covered by CNN, by AOL, by Fox News, by everyone and more. And for good reason. When event planner Lauren Wells shared the story behind her grandparent’s love, well, we all stopped, welled up with tears and realized that no matter what shape our wedding takes, no matter how perfect it appears from a handful of photos, no matter if it rains or shines…it’s the journey behind the details that bears the greatest impact on our life. Photo from Cambia Grace.
So there you have it. Our favorite moments from 2013. All in all we blogged over 3500 weddings across 12 different blogs. We devoured over 1 million images tucked inside of our galleries, each with their own sense of style and grace. And we smiled, cried, laughed and celebrated with each and every wedding that we shared.
Thank you for being a part of that journey with us. We want, more than anything, to make this a site that you love, that you adore, that you look to for ideas, for inspiration, for resources all that come together to build your own perfectly perfect day.
So please share what you’d like to see more of in 2014 and we’ll make it happen!
