Every so often, a wedding pops up in our submissions can only be described as smiles embodied. The decor is sunny, the day is beautiful, and the couple is giddily in love. Today, we have a wedding that is smiles embodied from U Me Us Studios and there’s not an image in this bunch that I don’t absolutely adore!

From the beautiful bride… Wilson and I wanted to get married in Northern California since almost all of our family live there. We wanted a nice venue which is intimate enough for around 100 guests and had the essence of both the indoors and outdoors. We chose the Bridges Golf Club because we thought the Garden Terrace was a beautiful setting for the outdoor wedding ceremony with a gorgeous view of the valley. For the cocktail hour and reception, the nearby Clubhouse was a perfect fit for our party size with elegant indoor decor and a terrace that still had an amazing view of the valley.

We chose different shades of chartreuse and peacock as our colors since these colors are my favorite and had both a modern and fun feel to them. I love polka dots and chevron patterns so I chose different prints in our wedding colors and made most of the decor by hand. We kept a pretty neutral palette for the linens and reception decor that were provided by the Bridges Golf Club and chose ivory tablecloths with sandlewood napkins and silver chargers along with mahogany chivari chairs. As for the cake, I love cupcakes so we decided to go for mini cupcakes with a 6″ cake for the cake cutting ceremony. Yum!

I loved walking down the aisle. It was a beautiful ceremony and the weather was perfect. Wilson and his groomsmen looked so awesome in their matching shades to help with the bright sunshine and I was so happy to finally see all my bridesmaids standing together in their different shades of green. It just looked so perfect! During the reception, our DJ had a special surprise for us when he had us play a game of Newlyweds as he had us answer questions about each other without seeing each other’s answers. They were questions like, “Who’s the best cook?”, “Who’s the messiest?”, and “Who’s always right?”. It was just so funny and I’m pretty sure we didn’t agree on most of them! But one of my absolute favorite moments was when Wilson surprised me with a choreographed dance with him and some of his high school friends to the song “What makes you beautiful” by One Direction. I was so shocked that Wilson had planned this all without me knowing but it made my night so much more special.

One of my biggest pieces of advice would be to have a day-of coordinator to help with tiny details and logistics if you can afford it. Otherwise, be really organized and designate people to have a job on the big day so everything goes by smoothly! We had a candle ceremony and bought a brand new lighter for it, but during the ceremony the lighter went missing and we ended up using an old lighter that just refused to light! It was a close call but things eventually worked out in the end.

Lastly I’d just like to say that your wedding day is yours. Do what YOU want to do. Make sure you know what you want to do on that day and MAKE TIME for it. It’ll go by FAST. I wish I could have spent more time chitchatting and catching up with people or eating or dancing but there’s only so much time for that and pictures and other logistics. As long as there’s time, just ENJOY it! And then you’ll always have the pictures to enjoy for years to come.
