For me, the prettiest part of our Mexican Fiesta was the Papel Picado bunting. It floated in the breeze and totally set the tone for our easy, effortless, totally inviting dinner. And believe it or not, it’s not a hard project to tackle. Remember those paper snowflakes you used to make as a kid? It basically the same thing. But prettier!

instructionsstep-1 Download & print out our papel picado template.

step-2 Gather 10 sheets of tissue paper and cut to 8½ x11”. Stack the template on top of the tissue paper and tape the top edges together with masking tape.

step-3 Fold the paper in half so that the template stays on top. Cut around the outside edge of the template (but leave the top edge in place).

step-4 Begin to cut out the shapes along the folded edge. Fold again to access the shapes in the middle (fold down the center of one or more shapes in a row). Having trouble visualizing? Check out this cute video for a clearer picture.

step-5 Remove the masking tape and unfold and separate your papel picados. Fold down the top edge about ½” on each.

step-6Cut a long length of twine and slide into the fold of each papel picado. Secure with scotch tape or staples. String up wherever a fiesta is needed!
