Fall in New England? It can’t be beat. It’s cozy sweaters and comfort food, of course, but it’s also when this region puts on the best show of the year. The natural color palette of the foliage almost looks too pretty to be real, so getting married during this time of year? Simply genius. And it only takes one look at the images from Sierra Kristen Photography to see just how wise it was. Because not only did these two get to marry their best friend, but they got to do it surrounded by some seriously stunning scenery. See it here.
From Sierra Kristen Photography… I’m a sucker for October weddings and when Katie & Greg contacted me about photographing their late October wedding in Massachusetts- I immediately got excited about the fact it was a fall wedding in the New England area! Fall is by far, in my opinion, the most perfect season to marry. I enjoyed photographing at all the venues during their special day, especially the site that Katie and Greg chose to get married- Mosley Chapel at Governor’s Academy, which I was told is the oldest boarding school in America, where Greg and his brother attended at one time. The campus evoked such beauty on that warm fall day and the church was centrally located and surrounded by big beautiful autumn emblazoned trees. My favorite addition to the day was the ladybugs. I remember they got caught in Katie’s veil and at one point one landed on her left ring finger! Katie and Greg’s day ended with a perfect, romantic and intimate reception.
From the Bride… We knew it had to be October! Aside from having first met and having fallen in love on a crisp October night in Maine—There’s just something indescribably enchanting about autumn in New England. It was further important to Greg and I that our personalities be found in every detail of our special day and that every element have meaning; So, October it was! Moving forward with that notion, planning was as fun and easy to us as being ourselves. But there were challenges! Planning from across the country in the northern Arizona desert proved a little tricky at times but it all worked out—especially with the help and inspiration from such beautiful blogs as Style Me Pretty!
I’m sort of in love with every part of our wedding day. It didn’t all happen as planned but it all happened and it was lovely. One of my favorite parts was at our sweet little chapel where there were ladybugs everywhere. Because the groom and I lovingly dote on each other as “bee” and “bug” I couldn’t help my delight and to regard them as anything but a good omen. Yet on the other hand I’ll forever cherish the memory of my bridesmaids and I singing our hearts out.
It was such a special day; a real whirlwind labor of love! From getting married in October in New England with the leaves so perfect at Greg’s high school’s chapel to having a carrot cake and having my mother’s beloved handwriting on all the place cards we really were in all the details of our dinner party themed reception. We were so touched our guests made it out to celebrate our dear day and that our efforts were so well received. Some guests even said it was the best wedding they’d been to! But still, the cake taker is that I married my best friend our way.
