I’m having a hard timing limiting myself to just a few words to describe this breathtakingly beautiful Los Angeles affair… it’s a gorgeous mix of culture and old-Hollywood glamour, the couple is clearly madly in love, The Ebell of Los Angeles is a positively swoon-worthy setting, and their event totally embraces their passion for friends, family, and love of entertaining. I could go on and on, but what’s not as easy to put into words is how awestruck we continue to be by the work of their team of vendors. Again and again we’re floored by the events they create, the images they capture, and the designs they craft. Planned by Amber Events, photographed by Callaway Gable, with blooms by Holly Flora, and a killer cake by Vanilla Bake Shop this exquisite affair is a testament to choosing the right team to bring your vision to life. From the Bride and Groom… As two consummate hosts who love to entertain, it was a thrill to plan a dream wedding that focused on our guests. Our hopeful vision was of a lively multi-cultural celebration that brought two hundred family and friends on a well-thought out experience, offering them the freedom to let loose, while exposing them to a classically romantic day.
We’re a couple that likes to have fun, so we wanted timeless romance without the stuffiness or formality. We sought to create inviting elegance, and after an expansive search, we found the 1920s-style Ebell of Los Angeles. It was a beautiful canvas that captured the perfect amount of glamour with opulent architecture and a definitive garden. We went for warm ambiance, with amber uplit rooms, mixed metallic décor and pops of corals in the lush floral blooms. Dark linens helped to create an intimate feel in the ballroom, while lounge furniture on the veranda offered an escape from the upbeat reception.
With a stunning and elegant wedding as a backdrop, our emphasis was on the celebration. Multi-cultural experiences including Chinese Door Games, a Jewish Ketubah signing and Chinese tea ceremony for close family provided a jam-packed day of activities all before the evening Jewish wedding ceremony. Considering our guests’ hunger and energy levels, we enlisted the help of our amazing coordinator, Amber Gustafson, and spent a lot of time perfecting our timeline to have seamless transitions. It was always important to showcase the story of our relationship and make the day personal. We greeted guests with a wishing tree, reminiscent of one of our earlier dates, then guided them into a cocktail party where we played a curated mix of our favorite songs created by the groom and dear friend. Since we love tea, party favors were customized tin boxes of tea for two. A slideshow of childhood photos played during dinner and got lots of awws. We love to dance and wanted to make sure it played a big part of the reception. Our lively band and DJ kept the energy high and guests showcased their fancy footwork on the dance floor all night long.
We would definitely suggest that brides and grooms take care of their bridal party. Pre-scheduled breakfast, lunch and dinner kept our bridal party upbeat and happy for a long day. As two hosts who spent most of the time thinking about our guests, it was important to stay in the moment together and that would be our biggest piece of advice to anyone. One of our favorite moments was the lively hora that kicked off our reception that allowed our families and friends to come together. Of course, it was truly special to be the center of attention for once and to share just how much we love each other in some very intimate and personal vows. Now when we look back on the day, we are overjoyed with happiness on how amazing it was to celebrate with our loved ones on the best day of our lives.
