There are few things I love more than a carefully crafted, family oriented, rustically romantic event. And this Virginia pondside soiree fits the bill on every account and then some. With layers upon layers of rich texture and just the right balance of vibrant color, it’s safe to say Events in the City has just hopped to the tippity top of my favorites list.  But it doesn’t stop there—Gabe Aceves Photography captured a million and one pin-worthy moments that cannot be missed in the full gallery here.

From Events in the City… Heidi Von Zielinski & Eric Graul were married on October 8, 2011 at the her families private pond house nestled in the rolling hills of Middleburg, Va. It was very important to Heidi that the reception be thoughtful, free-flowing, and rich in texture. Just up the hill from the pond which would host our ceremony, stood a large barn used to house the families extensive John Deere tractor collection and a private retreat knows as the ” Man Cave” for her step father. At first glance it held large machinery, Dallas Cowboy tribute items, and a massive pool table. Beyond that I saw 100% potential with two double sliding doors that ran parallel to each other. When opened you had a vista suitable for any crisp fall evening but perfection for a fabulous reception.

In just a few short months we carefully selected vendors that would be a perfect fit for our cocktail reception styled event. We utilized materials that would easily be found in the surrounding areas to add character and charm to her vision. Wine barrels propped our beverage station, an elaborate floral design was created in a row boat which became the floating centerpiece of our intimate ceremony. We created lace ties that were used to finish off our cocktail tables and centerpieces, and a beautiful hutch was restored by Heidi’s talented mother to present the honey jar favors for each of the guests.

We wanted to keep our guests on their toes through out the evening, so we created an eclectic menu that was filled with comfort foods and artistic cuisines. Our musicians began with a string trio for the ceremony, jazz band for early reception and ended with a top 40’s DJ to ensure each bridesmaid would be rubbing her sore dancing feet the next day!

At the end of the reception the guests were met but the stillness of the country and the bright twinkling stars free of any competition of neighboring lights or buildings. It was such a lovely evening, and the very reason why any little girl dreams of getting married in the fall.
