We kept things simple and did most of the decorating ourselves. Our families came into town early to help get everything ready. My sisters, mother, and father helped us sort through ten bunches of Baby’s Breath to create the centerpieces and bouquets – I picked Baby’s Breath because it has such a whimsical feel to it and it is far from traditional which we also liked. I found out from my sister later that Baby’s Breath means “eternal love,” I can’t think of a better flower to have at a wedding.
Continuing with the Southern theme, we used fresh Georgia peaches as escort card holders and served fried chicken and shrimp and grits for dinner. Guests raved about how sweet and delicious the peaches were! By doing a lot of the decorating and planning ourselves we were really able to make the day something that was very much our own which we could then share with our friends and family.
