Don’t miss their fab film by AFILM:
From the Bride… We met in high school, where we attended the same classes. We would study together and then watch black and white movies or go dancing somewhere, preferably to jazz or swing music. Experiments with exotic cuisine were nothing unusual. After five such years, we got engaged! Since the beginning, we planned to arrange the whole wedding ourselves – no special agency or wedding coordinators were to be involved. It was all supposed to be about us and for us and those close to us. The wedding process was very intriguing, filled with humorous episodes and fun.
We chose a beautiful garden for the wedding ceremony, a piece of land inconspicuously hidden in the very same place where the oldest palaces and medieval houses of Prague are situated. It is a place where we used to go for our dates. Back then, we would make half-joking remarks that it was the place to get married one day. We did not have a clue how true it would turn out to be later on. Right next to the garden, there is a small boutique hotel, decorated with caricatures of famous composers and other motives connected with music. There is also a magnificent restaurant in the hotel. We were captivated by this playful design and tasty food and decided that this was the place where to hold the wedding reception.
Then I fell madly in love with my wedding dress… I knew this was the one since the first moment I saw it, and I never doubted the decision, even though I bought it a year before the wedding. It reminded me of Audrey Hepburn’s style and of the ’60s. That is what inspired me to try and create a retro atmosphere – I bought many vintage embellishments, the tables were decorated with huge balls made of fresh flowers and the bridesmaids had their own stylish dresses made for them. My hairdresser did my hair fabulously. He created a hairdo that was so high that I had trouble entering in our – vintage, of course – automobile. A string quartet was playing jazz and swing music during the ceremony. We love nostalgic black and white, so I decided to add a striped pattern when I purchased a vintage umbrella with black and white stripes that I fell instantly in love with.
The whole wedding turned out beautifully; it was informal and relaxed, full of love and happy smiles. We had such a blast! We enjoyed wonderful music, exceptional dishes, and for the fun of it, we included also some of the old Czech traditions, such as feeding each other the wedding soup out of a shared plate, a symbol of conjugal cooperation. These moments were truly unforgettable!
