Enchanting is a word that just seems to circle around this NYC garden wedding captured by Isabelle Selby Photography. Enchanting because if it weren’t for the peeks of the city streets or yellow cabs, you would think this couple was in the middle of the city’s secretest gardens. That vision of a magical place in the middle of a bustling city inspired this Bride and her talented team of vendors including Exquisite Affairs Productions to create the loveliest of days filled with most enchanting of details. And you can see the magic unfold right here!
From the Bride… Thinking back on our wedding day, I still get teary-eyed and am bubbling over with emotions. It was truly a special day in our lives for so many reasons – exchanging our vows in the presence of our loved ones many of whom had to fly from far to be with us, seeing what we envisioned for eight months brought to life in the most unexpected ways, the normally unemotional Albert melting with affection in front of the altar, my father’s dramatic rendition of “Love is a Many Splendored Thing” that brought down the house, the entire dance floor erupting to “Gangnam Style” and exiting with sparklers lighting up the night sky and cheers from our friends and family…our favorite moments are endless!
We had talked about getting married at the Columbia University chapel even before we were engaged since that is where we met and fell in love five years ago! From there, we decided on New Leaf Restaurant as our reception venue after seeing only a few others. Although we visited in the dead of winter, we could envision a romantic tented wedding outdoors set in a bucolic park quite unlike the rest of NYC that surrounds it and where our guests can enjoy delicious organic, locally sourced food. The venue brought back childhood memories of the Secret Garden by Frances-Hodgson Burnett – the thought of finding a key to a hidden door that leads to my own secluded place was so enchanting. Everything flowed from this inspiration, starting from the soft, muted pastel colors, the vintage key and lock motifs for the invitations and the escort cards, candle lights and mason jars filled with wild flowers…
The day turned out more amazing than we ever imagined thanks to our loving family and friends (some of my fondest memories are of my mother and bridesmaids struggling with DIY projects on the last few days leading up to the wedding) and our wonderful vendors, including the thorougly reliable Christine Viola and our talented photographer Isabelle Selby and videographers Ryan and Heidi.
