This Bride is beautiful, that is without question. But she gets that much more stunning after reading her description. That's when she enters an entirely new level of gorgeous. Her struggle with leukemia might trigger some strong emotions, but her wedding to her sweet Groom captured by Scott Ebsary will without a doubt lift your spirits, give you hope, and show you the truest meaning of love. Every detail embodies grace, joy and acts as the thick to their thin - and I can't think of a couple more deserving of such a day. See even more here.
From the Bride... Grant and I met at our local church youth ministry. At first, I had no idea that he was interested in me. After flirting for a while, he mustered up the courage to ask me out on a date. After a few dates, he told me he liked me and that was where our adventure began. One day, our adventure took an unexpected turn: I was diagnosed with leukemia. After two years of chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant and lots of hospital appointments, Grant got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Throughout my two years in hospital, I planned my wedding, believing that I would make it through, and that one day I would marry Grant. When Grant proposed, I had everything on my laptop, already prepared — from flowers and my dress, to favors. All we had to do was make it happen.
We got married in a small little Anglican church in Mona Vale, called St John's Anglican. My grandad is an Anglican minister and he was our officiant. Because we have so many family friends who supported us through my diagnosis, it was so difficult to invite everyone to the reception. We decided to have an afternoon tea after the ceremony at the church to make sure everyone felt included and a part of the special day. One of my mum's friends hosted the afternoon tea, which included homemade lemonade, chocolate-filled meringues and shortbread. We decided on booking our wedding close to home. We looked at several venues, and Dunes was our choice because it was reasonably priced, the decor was beautiful on its own, and we knew we wouldn't have to do much to make it absolutely stunning. We decorated with handmade bunting and heaps of flowers. Our colors were sunshine yellow, forest green, pale gray and white.
Grant and I chose songs that were "our" songs throughout our journey. We walked down the aisle to "One Day Like This" by Elbow. On our first date, Grant played this song to me, and ever since then, he texts me saying "Holy Cow I love your nose/fingers" (silly things like that). You'll have to listen to it to get my gist. We also worked on a lot of DIY projects, including the lemonade stand at the ceremony, guest book table, linen bunting for the reception, a paper wreath (from Project Wedding), burlap table runners and the sweets table at the reception. Grant also did all our of invitations and programs, and he even hand-made our envelopes.
