There’s something about the colors in this wedding that make me ridiculously happy. They’re so feminine and pretty, and if you ask me, perfect for an outdoor Northern California wedding. It’s the perfect mix of natural and rustic yet still perfectly elegant and right at home in the barn. Jen Rodriguez Photography snapped up all the gorgeous details and we know you’ll have yourself a pretty little field day here in the full gallery.
From the Bride… We first met on Sept. 16, 2009 in San Francisco. It was one of those beautiful Indian summer nights with the Golden Gate Bridge and the twinkling lights of downtown serving as the backdrop. Covered in sand, sweat and dirt, we had both just finished running a 3.5 mile race, The Corporate Challenge, out at Crissy Field. For those unfamiliar, The Corporate Challenge draws some of the finest companies in Northern California together to help raise money for local charities. Companies form teams and compete to see who can raise the most money. It’s a great charity, tons of fun, good exercise and something John and I run every year. Our “unofficial” anniversary! John “Speedy Gonzales” Pola ran at a blistering 6:30 per mile pace, finishing in 22 minutes. Me? Let’s just say I made it across the finish line in time for pizza and beers. While we both worked at salesforce.com, neither one of us knew each other at the time. I was working in San Mateo, and John was in San Francisco. As the race came to an end, we made our way from Crissy Field, past the nearby Sports Basement headed towards the fabulous Final Final. I was walking with two friends from the San Mateo office, Vijay Vadlamudi and Brett Gilbert. Coincidentally, both had just started working on John’s new team in San Francisco. As John tells the story, he had strategically placed the two “married guys” (Vijay and Brett) on either side of me to prevent me from meeting any single guys. Team salesforce.com was hosting a post-race beer and pizza party. It was here, covered in sweat at the Final Final, that we met over stale pizza and beers and fell in love… We still run this race every year and look back upon it as the way we first met!
I saw pictures of our wedding venue on our photographer’s website (she’s a friend from high school) and knew we had to check it out. John and I both immediately feel in love with the beautiful mountain backdrop and knew it was the place for us. And the barn was so fun and different than other places we had seen — a great place for a celebration! After choosing the venue, we immediately knew we wanted a more rustic and natural wedding. Our ceremony was performed by my husband’s best friend, Steve Casella. He had us each individually write him why we feel in love with each other, and he reached out to friends and family and asked for advice on a happy marriage. He combined this all into an amazing ceremony, which was my favorite part of the day! My mom also made us a wedding quilt, something she does for everyone in our family, and presented it to us during speeches. It is beautiful and something we will always treasure.
My most vivid memories are from the ceremony. It was the one part of the day I wasn’t moving and could take everything in!
