We’re always looking for ways to gussy up simple, household items. And of the projects that we seem to tackle time to time again, it seems like vases seem to always be at the top of our list. Mainly because they are so accessible and such a great canvas for sparkle or gold or in today’s case…nautical with a chic twist of rope. ┬áThese little gems are total cuteness and have instantly warmed up my modern white kitchen table. Tackle one or tackle all, you’re definitely going to be proud of your DIY chops after this baby.

Adorbs, right? And not nearly as hard as they look. To make the process really easy to follow, our resident DIY guru, Jess, has geniusly whipped up a few nifty little sketches, that once again are worth of framing, but that most of all will help you to get started on a robe vase of your very own.

And voila. Rope vase perfection. That probably cost an arm and a leg if you picked this bad boy up at a boutique. We love the idea of filling these with pretty pink ranunculas or even hydrangeas for a more classically nautical look…

And there you have it. We loved this vase because even without stems, it had presence. The height and the texture could stand along on a bookshelf or on an entryway table and pull its own weight…

And that was about as simple as it gets. And yet it looks so handcrafted, so expensive. With a hint of soft color, the rope becomes instantly lovely and a simple wrap is gussied up to seriously cute status…

Okay SMP-ers, it’s time to tackle your own rope vases then share them with us over twitter or pinterest or facebook or wherever else you can! We want to see your creations and your own creativity take hold. Go forth, my lovelies…and craft, craft, craft!
