From the Bride... Spencer and I have known each other for six years but only fell in love about two years ago. We met at a concert venue he was performing at. We've been playing music together now for a few years in churches and for other events. Our shared passion for the same styling of music, along with our desire to help people and serve in our community, was a big part of our hearts being knit together. We recently had an offer to relocate to Florida for a music position at a church and decided to take it. Right after that, I was very surprised when Spencer proposed to me by carving "MARRY ME" in a tree at Echo Lake, where we had our first picnic date with Indian cuisine. :) The ring he proposed with was one he made out of birch bark. We had known for a while that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together so it was a fast YES for me! We then had seven weeks to plan a New Hampshire wedding.
The decor and style of the wedding was easy for us to choose. We wanted to share with our guests who we are as individuals and as a couple which led us to the theme "our favorite things." One of our very favorite places was the home I had been residing in for the past two years. The view, the stone fireplace, the large porch and wall of windows, along with our favorite memories together, was an easy pick for the location. We went with Italian and Indian food, pumpkin rolls and whoopie pies. Carrot cake with a maple cream cheese frosting in the form of a birch tree. Chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream frosting, maple cream cookies, and so much more! Guests were seated at tables with pictures of our favorite things. Entering the house were branches with birch bark hanging from them. On each piece of birch was a guest's name and place written on it. For instance, Mom LaBerge at "Gramma's House." Each place setting had a favor consisting of a pine cone we found on a hike, a bottle of our favorite maple syrup and our very favorite candle, all inside of a coffee mug. During the exchange of vows was the first time I had seen my ring that Spencer had designed for me — an amazing moment! Instead of having our first dance, we performed our first song together. L.O.V.E. As we were singing, fireworks just so happened to be going off in the mountains behind us in celebration of Cinco de Mayo — a BIG bonus for us!
Burlap, birch bark and birch stumps were spread about on tables, wrapped around vases and outside at the ceremony, along with birch trees surrounding the home. Our colors were the easiest decision. Brown, ivory and white with a touch of green in the flowers. A perfect match for the surrounding woods and also our everyday interior decor styling. Rustic, vintage, old, paint-chipped and worn out. This style we love seems to bring a sense of warmth, so we tried our best to let our guests share in our passions. My vintage dress, A Victorian flower girl dress, vintage lace-up fryes, feathers in hair, a brown suit, the most amazing flowers I've ever seen, a jazz band out on the porch, candles lit, our favorite people in the world. All to equal the most amazing night of our lives!
