From the Bride... Chris and I met on a blind date on the July 4, 2008. We were both home from Washington, DC, visiting our families in Rhode Island. It was something that neither of us were too thrilled about at the time, but it ended up changing our lives forever. We started dating in November (hey, it took awhile for Chris to call me back!) and transitioned into a long-distance relationship when I moved back to our home state the following May. When Chris and I got engaged, it marked the end of almost two years of constant travel and lots of frequent flier miles — we could not have been happier!
Our wedding day was truly the most beautiful day of my life. I was a bride who was prepared for the worst weather (lots of rain boots and fun umbrellas were purchased beforehand!), but it ended up being a perfect, 75 degree, partly sunny day, which is almost unheard of for April in the northeast! Besides marrying Chris, the most special part of the day was having my Gram as my matron of honor. She’s my best friend, and I was thrilled to have her by my side! My something old, borrowed and blue was a star sapphire cocktail ring given to her by my grandfather. My veil was also very special because it was my mom's that she also wore on her wedding day from Priscilla of Boston. The girls and I got ready at NYLO Hotel in Warwick, Rhode Island. It’s a super modern space with a funky vibe, and it was really fun to shoot some pictures there before the ceremony. The chapel at Aldrich is stunning; we loved how it was small but still had a grand look. If felt so cozy with all of our family and friends facing each other. Our favorite part of the reception was most definitely the food – we were stuffed by the end of the night! I have a huge sweet tooth and we chose to do a surprise dessert room – it was the perfect ending!
Picking Aldrich Mansion was one of the best decisions we made during the whole process. It was the perfect backdrop for the clean and classic look we wanted. Once we were booked there I scoured wedding websites (hey, SMP!) to incorporate personalized touches into our day. The cake topper (a surprise for Chris!) turned out to be one of my favorite accessories. The table numbers were a DIY project that also incorporated my dog, Rocco, dressed up in his tuxedo. The ladies at Aldrich did a great job making sure our day ran smoothly. Lauren Halvorson did a phenomenal job capturing our day and we are thrilled with how the photos turned out! We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
