From Alyssa of Alyssa Schroeder Photography... I am excited to share with you Jami and Nick’s wedding, which I photographed this fall. It was filled with DIY goodness. When I met Jami, she gushed about all the details. I had to ask if she was following wedding blogs, and she replied, telling me how obsessed she is with Style Me Pretty (I knew this would be an awesome wedding at this point). She had her wedding on a Friday and luckily had the whole week prior to set up the detailed barn. Their wedding took place at the Saar Bank Farms in Fraser Valley in Abbotsford (45 minutes from Vancouver). The farm is still fully operating, and they actually have a bunch of friendly goats who joined us for some photos. The owners converted their older barn’s hayloft into a stunning wedding location with gorgeous chandeliers. The surrounding area is peaceful farmland with mountains in the background.
We did a first look down the wedding aisle in the barn. Everything was originally planned for an outdoor ceremony behind the barn, but with some rain in the forecast, Jami set up the barn beautifully for an indoor ceremony. Following fun photos around the barn, they had their ceremony with their first dance immediately following to open the reception.
They had their wedding on the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, and Jami wanted the reception to feel warm and casual like a grandmother’s family dinner get-together. Jami and Nick had their own separate “Sweet Table” together for the dinner and reception which was really cute. She wanted a bit of time to treasure alone together to talk on such a busy day. She also set up a silent art auction and donated the money to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation (Jami is a cancer survivor from when she was a young child). After dinner, we had some extra time while guests finished eating and caught the beautiful sunset for some more couples photos.
