Rick and I love living in Colorado and both enjoy the many activities available to us because of the Rocky Mountains. The Rocky Mountains are where we fell in love, so naturally it was only fitting for us to find a wedding venue that encompassed the “real” Colorado and what the West was all about. After touring multiple venues all over the state…we finally found the perfect match – Devil’s Thumb Ranch in Tabernash, Colorado. Devil’s Thumb Ranch is elegant and rustic, quaint but magnificent. Every person who works there is warm, friendly and eager to help….and the food is amazing! Saying our vows while overlooking the Continental Divide and dancing the night away in a barn constructed from hand hewn beams from a Civil War-era Indiana barn was in a word….perfect.

The most important detail for me was the photographer. I had Julie Harris Photography already selected as our photographer, long before Rick ever proposed! I have long been an admirer of Julie’s work and I could not wait to finally meet and work with her. Julie has a knack for capturing the real, “raw,” and true emotions of the day…and that is exactly what she did for us. When we viewed our wedding photos for the first time, I could not believe how perfectly she captured every emotion of that day. I cannot thank her enough for such beautiful memories.

Kara Delay of Love This Day Events was the first and ONLY wedding planner we considered. From the moment we first met her I knew she was the perfect person to help us plan our wedding… her smile and enthusiasm are contagious. She made every SO easy…we could not have done it without her! The colors we went with were purple flowers and touches of burgundy/wine and soft browns. Kara also provided all of the décor for the reception, including the gorgeous table florals.

The Aspen trees were at their brilliant yellow peak, the weather was a perfect 70 degrees with bright blue skies, and the Colorado Rockies looked more beautiful than ever. Our entire day was pure magic.
