The Foundry has been home to some of SMP’s most stunning weddings. It’s this gorgeous combination of industry and elegance and the fusion makes for a backdrop that basically cranks up the style notch of any style of wedding. Now with that said, we’re pretty sure this celebration could hold its own against any canvas with a bride and groom that are all glowy and gorgeous, a style that is bohemian and full of love and a few little tidbits of total unabashed gorgeous. Photographed by Jenny Jimenez with stunning florals by Saipua, this wedding has love written all over it. Click here to see even more.

From the bride… Andrio and I have covered a lot of ground in our relationship. We met while both living in Seattle, started our relationship commuting between Philly and New York and finally got engaged on the same Manhattan rooftop where we shared our first kiss after I relocated to New York. We knew we wanted our wedding to be a celebration of the two of us and the things we hold most dear. With Andrio’s family near Portland, Oregon and mine from outside of Detroit, planning a wedding in either of our hometowns felt too far removed from the other’s roots. We opted to host the event in New York, our current hometown, and use it as an excuse to bring everyone together and give them a little taste of the things we love most about being New Yorkers.
Both of us being designers (Caroline is a textile designer in the fashion industry and Andrio is a graphic designer), we wanted to find a space that would allow us to put our own special spin on the look and feel of the day. We wanted an event that was intimate, casually sophisticated and filled with warm candlelight, wonderful wine and food. The venue also had to allow dogs, as we wanted our long-haired dachshund, Marlow, to act as ring-bearer for the ceremony (he literally dragged the flower girl down the aisle on the day of). When we discovered The Foundry in Long Island City, we knew we had found our spot. From the beginning we agreed to keep the color palette very simple — just shades of white, ivory and gray to soften the New York industrial interior of The Foundry with rustic elements to remind us of the Oregon Coast where Andy grew up vacationing and we have shared many happy trips to together.
Both of us coming from very close-knit families, Andy and I knew from the start that we wanted to create our reception menu to pair with wines from The Grade Cellars, a vineyard owned and operated by my uncle and aunt in Napa Valley. We were able to create a menu that perfectly complemented their wine by working with Shaun Roberts at Great Performances. Great Performances has a farm in upstate New York that they source a lot of their produce from. We were proud to be able to feature locally-gown produce in our wedding menu as well as food from other local vendors such as Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, Brooklyn Roasting Company Coffee and Tom Cat Bakery (which is actually located right across the street from The Foundry — talk about fresh bread!). Shaun also helped to include some additional personal items into the menu such as serving mini lumpia (a traditional Filipino snack since Andrio’s family is from the Philippines) during the cocktail hour as well as helping us recreate the famous Pecan Pie Sundae from Buttermilk Channel, our favorite Brooklyn restaurant. My father said that the only thing wrong with the wedding was that it ended too soon. Our wedding day was without question the best day of our lives and when I look at these images I am so happy to see that everyone had as good a time on our wedding day as we did.

This is so beautiful! Love the muted tones and greys and Saipua's work is always so effortlessly beautiful!
Love the style of the bride and groom. I normally don't notice the groom's outfit, but his suit and tie and boutonniere combination is just fab. All the design elements and all the details that went into this are sublime.
Just wow. This is one of my favorite weddings ever featured here. So beautiful and personal looking! Just love it!
love that backdrop!
Beautiful... so classy and chic!!
There are really just too many cute and clever things in this wedding. The graphics are awesome - and I love the braided belt for the bridesmaids!
I found your blog on Pinterest, and I've gotta say, I am in love! Your work is absolutely amazing!

The ceremony backdrop is the coolest thing I've seen. Such a great idea!
Wow. Amazing. Adorable couple.

I can't even believe how amazing this is. I love everything going on here -the photos, decor, design, and the chalk photo backdrop! Are you kidding me? WOW. Well done team. Well done. |
Gorgeous! I love those long tables. So intimate and chic!
Oh Dana Tanamachi is my absolute favorite! This is by far one of the most incredible weddings I've seen in quite some time. Thank you for sharing!
This wedding looks beautiful. But some of the photoshop is terrible, sorry.
WHAT A REFRESHING WEDDING STYLE TO SEE FOR NEW YORK CITY!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE THE FRESHNESS OF THE BRIDE'S GOWN. OH I FALL HEAD OVER HEALS WHEN I SEE A WEDDING SO STYLISHLY PERSONAL AND UNIQUE WITHOUT BEING OVER THE TOP. TOTALLY INLOVE!
Those braided sashes on the bridesmaid dresses are completely gorgeous!! Love the table settings as well with the varied candles and flowers... love this wedding! Congrats!
Gorgeous details!! I love it when people include their pets in their weddings!
Out of all the weddings I have seen, this is one of my favorites. I adore the modern grey theme, and the all natural flowers and decor gives it a wonderful atmosphere. The photographer really captured the moment!
Love the big backdrop and lights!
This looks fantastic! Love the backdrop. And who did the calligraphy?
I love this wedding. So chic and sophiscated but calm and cool. I love her dress! But I have to be honest the stunner of the day was Marlow. I have a near identical mini doxie girl. Maybe they can have their own stylish wedding.
This wedding is fabulous. The graphics, the flowers, the colors, the clothes, and the photography. It is the first wedding I've seen on SMP that combines nearly every aspect I want at our wedding. Beautiful!! Plus a couple that exudes happiness and love. Thank you for sharing!
Wow, fantastic! The backdrop is a great idea! Pretty dress!
As a calligrapher, of course, the first thing I look for is any lettering that is used in an event and that chalkboard is to die for!!!!
I have done many chalkboard menus and a few seating charts, but the one done for this wedding is over the top fantastic! Oh, and everyrthing else was great too. :)
Absolutely gorgeous! The dresses, the bows, the backdrop, so much to love.
WHERE DID THEY GET THAT CUSTOM BACKDROP!
I. Am. In. LOVE!
MUST have
ASAP!
Just love the decor. Everything is so pretty and gorgeous. Great idea used for the decor.
I found it very impressive and nice theme for wedding including candlelight, wonderful wine and food representation.
BeautifuL! Coudl you let me know where I could find an all pearl ring like in this wedding?
Gray all the way!! First of all I can't get over the cute cute dachshund, so adorable!! I also love the color tone of this wedding, it's AMAZING!! And I have to mention that I <3 her dress!!!
Beautiful wedding!! I love the gray colors, the dog and the brides dress!! Amazing!!
@Maple, @Jennifer Hamelin and @Leire: I've sent an email to Stellina Events about the calligraphy, chalkboard backdrop and the pearl ring. Hopefully we hear back soon. Thanks for reading!
I Love everything about this wedding! Great design you two!
Hi ladies, for those inquiring about the amazing chalkboard backdrop - it was a custom piece done by a friend of the couple!
Modern and chic, but warm, fun and loving at the same time - dare I say it's my fave ever posted!
The chalk backdrop is by Dana Tanamachi (http://www.danatanamachi.com/ ), but she is no longer available for personal or wedding-related commissions (as it says on her website). Looks like this couple was the only exception!
Wow. this wedding is one of my favorites in a very long time. So perfectly balanced and natural. Cheers to the couple and everyone involved! Thank you for posting!!
With all the comments I see others feel the same way I do! Thank you so much for featuring this wedding! It is wonderful and has true style! Made me happy to see such a beautiful wedding and hope mine will be the same! Their happiness just radiates in every picture right off the screen!
Love this wedding! I tried to pin a photo from it though and when I try to pin all I am able to pin are ads :( Would love to be able to pin wedding photos from SMP - I hope you'll look into this! Thanks!!
Weird, random question. Where did you get the runners for the tables????
OMG, I just noticed the picture of the dog sitting underneath the married couple's dinner chairs (photo 90). I absolutely LOVE this wedding!!!
Lovely wedding but the graphics throughout really set it apart; stunning stuff
I can see why this wedding has a plethora of comments! The photography, grooms suit, invites, bridesmaid dresses, their chalk board ceremony backdrop, and the flowers....Saipua is a beyond talented florist! This is my favorite wedding!
Hi everyone, I have answers from the bride to some of the questions everyone has been wondering about!
@Maple: The calligrapher for the wedding was Nancy Howell. http://nancyhowell.com/
@Leire: The pearl ring belonged to the bride's grandmother, and was given to the bride by her mother to wear at the wedding. The bride's sister also wore one. Maybe a jeweler could help you create something similar.
@Seabron: The table runners were made by hand by the bride's mother because they couldn't find runners they liked.
As for the backdrop, it's already been posted that it was custom-done by a friend who unfortunately doesn't do wedding work, which is true. Thanks everyone for reading and for being patient for answers!
What a beautiful wedding. Well done all around. The couple will have smiles for many years to come remembering all the wonderful moments and personal touches.
My fiance and I have been searching for a tie like the one the groom is wearing for months! May I ask where it's from?
Beautiful! I would love to know who provided the strung lights.
Love everything about this wedding! Just incredibly beautiful! :)
Wow, spectacular!!
