From Simply Fabulous Events and Design…The Midwest truly has the most beautiful winters. From the glistening snow and ice, to the dreamy afternoons of snow angels and hot cocoa, I just knew this ‘Dream to Reality’ shoot had to revolve around what I believe is the season of the year to be married!
The idea was soft, romantic, sparkle, snow, antiques, and a blue dress. Yes, a blue dress. With that being said, a blue dress proved to be very hard to find, so in talking with the model {who is also a very dear friend}, she explained that she could sew a skirt and voila! a creation of layers upon layers of muted blue and matte gray perfection arrived to the shoot! Paired with a sequin shirt from Target {love!}, simple pearls and gray heels, the Bride model was just stunning! And the mittens? Knitted by our fabulous photographer, Emily Steffen! Not to be outdone, I dressed the Groom to compliment his Bride’s look with a warm cardigan, tweed jacket, and J.Crew scarf and gloves.
The table was the perfect balance of winter from the mercury glass containers and candles to the soft white hydrangea, baby’s breath, and snow. A statement linen can completely transform a table, so nestled below all of the winter inspired loveliness; I brought in a sparkled, deeply textured gray sequined linen. I also wanted to make sure balance all the ‘frill’ with masculine undertones: Mahogany chiavari chairs, curly willow suspended above the table {along with mercury Christmas globes!}, and cinnamon sticks stuffed into the napkins.
Last, the cake. A ruffled inspiration, the cake and mini cakes adorned with sugar flowers {resting on antique cake and candle stands} were a focal point of the dessert table. Accented with a few peppermint patties, dipped pretzel sticks, and s’mores…and it was the perfect winter dessert table waiting for a roasting fire! The finale was the beautiful stationery that gave just the right touch of gray, blue, and total romance. The whole shoot was beauty beyond words and had us all falling in love with winter {and winter weddings!} all over again!
