There is just something about a train station that is so romantic. Maybe it’s the thought that it’s like a crossing point in your life. You can jump on a train and end up anywhere, starting a whole new chapter. It definitely evokes the most perfect image for a wedding – so when I heard this wedding, captured by Katy Cook Photography, took place at the Salisbury Train Depot, I couldn’t contain my excitement. And when I saw the fantastic vintage elements A Southern Soiree helped our bride and groom incorporate, I knew this would be a perfect soiree. You’ll see what I mean when you visit the gallery!

Ben and I met at the hospital where we both work and started dating shortly after. After a wonderful two years together Ben proposed and we decided to have our wedding in my hometown of Salisbury, North Carolina.
Our ceremony was held at First United Methodist Church and it could not have been more perfect. The wedding service was traditional with absolutely beautiful music and solos. During the service rain fell outside, only to stop and result in a beautiful rainbow shortly after the ceremony was over. This solidified something I already knew, my father, who has passed away, was definitely there in spirit.
The reception was held at the Historic Train Depot, also in Salisbury. I dreamed of a vintage, southern reception, inspired by my mother’s back porch where she keeps potted plants in abundance. I love the look of the overflowing pots and decided I needed to have them everywhere, and that is just what we did. The color palette was neutral with ivories, creams, and lace overlays, with a pop of color added with wildflowers. My mother and I collected vintage vases, votives and other “knick knacks” throughout the engagement to complete the look.
Kailey with A Southern Soirée did an amazing job filling the overwhelming large venue, paying special attention to all of the details I envisioned. Two of my favorites were the guest book, which was a vintage file box filled with cards for guests to leave us a sweet note, and the small white wire tables that served as children’s tables with arts and crafts!
A Krispy Kreme doughnut bar was set up to serve as the favors. This was unique to Ben and I since he is from the home of Krispy Kreme, Winston Salem, North Carolina. Also, Krispy Kreme recently started making cheerwine filled doughnuts, and since the Cheerwine company was founded in Salisbury, this made the perfect tribute to both of our hometowns.
Also, I am very blessed to have a genus artist/illustrator as a new sister in law! She did an amazing job designing the save the dates that tied into the menu card design. I loved this personal touch on our wedding day. The band Rubberband kept the energy at the reception going well into the night. They kept the guests entertained and the dance floor full! A bride’s dream! The day was truly amazing and one I hope not just myself but others will remember for a lifetime!

Wow! I love all the signage details with this wedding! The doughnut bar favor bags with the initials are so cute! I think my favorite is that sign with their name and wedding date on it! LOVE!
This wedding is "classic" but yet everything is so unique!!!
Emily and Ben were such a great couple to work with! I knew the moment that I met Emily and after discussing some of her ideas for the wedding that she would be the perfect Style Me Pretty bride! Thank you Katy Cook for capturing the day perfectly! Also, thank you to all the other vendors that helped to make their day amazing!
This was by far my favorite wedding of the year! Gorgeous details, lovely couple... Working with Kailey and the Southern Soiree team. :) Loved every moment.
Beautiful couple and wedding. Looks like a New York event instead of Salisbury. They were fortunate to have you working with them Kailey for this special time.
Beautiful wedding!!!!! Very well done!
The details that went into this wedding were spectacular! I never in a million years would have thought to have a wedding at a Train Depot, but Emily and Ben, the team from A Southern Soiree, and everyone else involved pulled it off. I love the use of the wildflowers and how everything used had some special meaning to the bride and groom. This is truly a stunning wedding...Great job!!
Stealing the flowers in the LOVE mugs for my wedding!
Can anyone tell me where they found the Wood Family sign? It would be a great Christmas present!
This was an absolutely beautiful wedding and were happy we were able to be a part of it
Absolutely gorgeous wedding that seemed so natural and lovely. Any chance you can tell me where your cake topper is from?? Love it!
Love the bridesmaids' dresses! Where are they from?
Working with Ben and Emily in planning the menu for their wedding reception was such a fun experience. Ben knew exactly what he wanted for their menu once he saw our offering. Emily's only request was that we have her favorite tomato and cheese pie.
The train depot was truly transformed with all the attention to detail and special touches provided by Emily and the Southern Soiree team. Congrats to all on a memorable evening!
Thanks for all the very sweet comments! To answer some of the questions..the "Wood Family" sign was given as a gift to us by Kailey and the A Southern Soiree team. It was so sweet of them and now hangs in our home! The cake topper came from an antique store. My mom found it only a few weeks before the wedding while we were "treasure hunting" as we called it! Check your local antique stores, I am sure can find one too! The bridesmaid dresses were from Anthropologie. Thanks again to Kailey from A Southern Soiree, Holly from Holly Tate Fine Catering, and Katy Cook from Katy Cook Photography for making this day so special!
Thanks for the info Emily! Congratulations to you and your new husband! xo

Beautiful Wedding. Awesome job Kailey & team.
Wow! Such a beautiful wedding! I love Katy Cook's fresh and unique wedding photos.
Everyone involved with Emily's wedding did such a great job....The day of the wedding, I did not have to worry about any of the details, only making myself presentable. I would like to add, the flowers at the
church were done by Flowertowne Florist in Salisbury and the reception flowers were grown and arranged
by Cathy Reynolds who owns Blue Acres Farm in China Grove. Kailey and Cathy worked very hard to make the depot into the "back porch" setting Emily wanted it to be. The night went by so quickly but I will always have wonderful memories of my daughter's wedding because of all the hard work contributed by the vendors.
Emily! I love this website and I was so shocked to see when I recognized you! Your wedding day looked fabulous, and you made a beautiful bride. Congrats to you and your hubby.
Hi! Which style of dress is this from Hayden Olivia? I absolutely love it !
What a stunning bride--that dress is amazing on her!! And loooooving the photos...especially the church photo. Gorgeous!
Gorgeous !! I have been to many weddings at the Salisbury Depot but this certainly looks like the most special setting designed by Southern Soiree !
Hi Blaire! I'm not sure, but I'll check with the bride for you and hopefully we can figure it out!
HI Blaire, It is Modern Trousseau Autumn. I ordered mine in Ivory on Ivory, which is different than the sample they had in the store. I loved working with everyone at Hayden Olivia, they are wonderful!
love the bridesmaids dresses...
The wooden sign was ordered on Etsy.com from a gentleman named Mike Crowder. You can find him by searching for "mrcwoodproducts' on Etsy. He is fabulous to work with and his signs are GREAT gifts! :)
