I’m a chevron lover through and through so it’s almost as if this backyard fête and I were meant to meet. It has all the makings of the perfect whimsical affair – bright colors, loads of personality, ribbons and scrumptious prints galore and all of it was masterminded by the Bride herself, even the paper goods! Clearly this Mrs. has a whole lot of style and she has gorgeous images by Nancy Ray Photography to prove it. From the Bride…Our wedding was a labor of love in that I really did love nearly every moment of hand crafting it together. Almost every detail involved a DIY element to not only save money, but to really make our wedding unique to us as a couple. Craig has been making me laugh since we started dating four years ago and we always have so much fun together. I wanted the wedding to represent our fun and lighthearted nature. The graphic elements of stripes and chevron as well as cheerful orange, yellow, coral and teal colors were a theme carried across our wedding, starting with the save the dates. I loved the idea of using an ampersand to represent our union as well as the dog silhouette I designed as a representation of our love for our dog, Abbey. These elements branded the whole event and really set the tone for our backyard wedding. We were really lucky to have a gorgeous private home as the backdrop and then added cafe string lights and pops of color with ribbons.
Some of the hand crafted elements of our wedding included the save the dates which I designed and then took a local letterpress class to print, the escort card buttons which were printed on to fabric by Spoonflower and then I cut and punched each one individually with a button maker, and also the chevron table runners which were sewn by Craig’s mom. I also personally cut and sewed all the fabric pockets for the wedding invitations and had so much fun designing all the paper good items for the day.
My favorite moment of our wedding was the first look and just enjoying the quiet moment with Craig after all the hard work to get to that day. We had a lot of family travel to be with us on our first day of marriage and it meant so much to be able to share it with them. In planning the wedding, I followed a long list of wonderful wedding blogs (and still do!) for my wedding inspiration and so to be able to share our wedding in hopes that other brides might gain inspiration in return is complete bliss!

I love the buttons... Where did you get them?
Thank you for all the sweet comments! To answer your questions: the bridesmaid in yellow's dress is a Lela Rose dress that she found on ebay brand new, my wedding dress was from David's Bridal but is now discontinued (I would be willing to sell it, please email me) and the sash on my dress is from White by Vera Wang, my shoes were from Nordstrom and are Badgley Mischka Lyndee wedges. :) The turquoise chevron fabric was found at fabricguru.com - search zig zag or email me if you want to purchase my table runners. The other bridesmaid dresses were found at Nordstrom, The Limited, J Crew Crewcuts (flower girl) and a bridal store. I made the buttons myself by designing the graphic and uploading it to Spoonflower.com to be printed on fabric, then I cut out the circles and used a button maker to punch each button. Hope this helps! Feel free to email me if you have more questions: janine@janineraedesign.com. Thanks again to Style Me Pretty for posting our sweet wedding and to Nancy Ray!
