From Distinct Occasions…Emily & Scott are a force to be reckoned with… wickedly funny, DIY talented and brimming with ideas they wanted a non-traditional wedding – AND got it!
Their September wedding was planned with plexi/acrylic as a feature and unique elements throughout. Everything from the appetizers to invitations, hanging plexi seating cards, centerpieces, goldfish, and signed plastic champagne flutes the couple turned into a chandelier for their home later were dreamed up, created and/or handmade by this crafty couple. Everything was DIY with a fun twist. I loved every second of planning with these two!

I don't always love modern weddings, but this one's special. The bright orange really pops against all the white!
I'm loving this orange palette...
Love , this wedding ! where did you get the classic Valentino pumps ?
So fresh and pretty. Crystal you are amazing!
Emily+Scott = AMAZING clients!! Had a great time putting this look together for them!
wow amazing stationaries!
I was so excited to see this wedding on Style Me Pretty today! I live in Toronto and already have a list of vendors I want to hire when I get married in 2014. Crystal from Distinct Occasions and Miller Lash House have been on my list for a while. Just love this!!!!
Fantastic wedding Crystal!
It was a pleasure and honor to create Emily & Scott's wedding cake. Definitely one of my favorite couples. So fun and clearly in love.
Natasha - give me a shout when you're ready! Would be happy to discuss your details and welcome you to the Distinct Occasions family!
I should also mention the DJ who kept the party rocking ALL night long! Michael Coombs from Prodigy Entertainment - http://www.prodigyentertainment.ca
Thanks so much for all of your comments! LOVED working with Scott & Emily who seriously were the epitome of fun, quirky and absolutely in LOVE!
Gorgeous wedding! It looked so fun. I met Michael Coombs when Abby and I traveled to Toronto a couple of months back. Great guy.
Crystal - you are certainly fabulous in what you do. Amazing imagination!
Another flawless wedding Crystal! Always happy to be your caterer :)
Thanks for everyone's complements. We certainly had a fantastic time at our wedding. But most of all, we can't thank all our vendors enough for their support throughout the planning process. Their creativity, expertise and humor made planning as enjoyable as the wedding itself.
and Leslie, I bought my red Valentino at Davids on Bloor.
Emily + Scott were an awesome experience for us as film makers to capture and produce a wedding video for them. From their unique characteristics to the enormous attention for detail they have... (not to mention Crystal, or Anything that she did :)...) but it was easy to get great content for their story.
A complete pleasure and honour to be part of such a fun, sarcastic, emotional and amazingly executed experience!
Thanks again!
On a positive note... Love the Cake on this wedding, Super chick and original.
On a positive note... I love the cake for this wedding, super chic and original :)
Re: comment posted by Mike @ LetThemEatCakeFilms.com
Mike, it's interesting how you and your company are taking credit for Emily & Scott's video when it's clearly not your work....afterall, at the end of the clip it says "SpotStudios", not "LetThemEatCakeFilms"....how do you explain that?
To all couples, please be extremely wary of Mike Rybinski and his newest business venture LetThemEatCakeFilms. You see, Mike was originally hired as my wedding videographer when he was formally employed with SpotStudios. After meeting with him several times, he assured that everything would be great and looked forward to working with us. Unfortunately 3 days before my wedding, Mike went MIA...essentially he bailed not only on my wedding, but also on his employer. He took off with our deposit and left the owner of the company (Rob) to be the bearer of bad news (and boy did Rob get a earful!!). So there we were....3 days before the wedding, panicking, and no videographer. Rob helped get us into contact with another great videography company - Phoenix Gate Pictures. They had the style we were looking for, and now looking back, we couldn't have worked with a better crew...they were great. So yes things did work out in the end, however I could have done without all of the drama that preceeded.
To sum it up, SpotStudios (who filmed this video) does great work and were great to work with. As for Mike & LetThemEatCakeFilms, I wouldn't hire them if they were the last company to exist. Sure Mike does some good work, but he has absolutely no ethics or integrity and simply cannot be trusted. If this is who you want to entrust on the biggest day of your life, then go for it...but is it really worth the risk?
To the administrator of this site, I would enforce your security as content is clearly being changed. Mike, kudos to you for having yet another trick up your sleeve and changing the content on this site to point to your company - clever.
Love the teardrop glass hanging pieces. Where are those from?
Former Bride - I'm so sorry to hear of your issues with videography but REALLY happy it all worked out in the end. Sometimes obstacles are thrown in our path to make way for better oppourtunities.
As noted, SpotStudios were the videography company used for this wedding regardless of the videographers themselves, who have since moved on. It has been noted with SMP and apologies for any confusion. Regardless - the client was thrilled with their video memories.
Thanks again, everyone, for commenting!
meg - the teardrop glass pieces were actually from the decorator's inventory (www.design2decor.com). It's hard to tell from the photos but each was filled with crystals and many even had double happiness symbols done in orange plexi hidden inside them for a beautiful glow!
Hi all. We apologize for any confusion about the cinematography. The post has been updated.
Thanks for reading!!

I love that clear acrylic cake plateau - does anyone know where you can get those? I have been hunting for a while!
Beautiful wedding. Love the colours, the different dresses, and the location. I'm so jealous!
Amazing, LOVE the cake design!
Wow, beautiful wedding! And amazing photos. Emily, you are so cute, absolutley love the dress choices throughout the day.
Lovely recap of the event.
Former Bride, I am sorry about the issues you have to go through with videography. Not sure about what went wrong there between you, Spotstudios and Mike. I am happy that everything worked out for you at the end.
We were extremely lucky to find Mike and Blayre to video our wedding. Throughout the planning process, Mike was very patient and responsive with my requests and criticisms of their previous works. On the wedding day, they arrived my place at 8:30am and filmed non-stop until our last dance at 12:30am without complains or extra charge. They even edited the film posted within 3 days for us to bring to Taiwan for our second reception! I can’t resolve the creative ownership issue between Spotstudio and Let Them Eat Cake here but I do know Mike and Blayre filmed and edited my wedding. They were the people that DID the work.
Elaine of Style Me Pretty, thank you for changing the credit to Let Them Eat Cake upon my request. I am sorry for the confusion (as I am extremely confused about what happened there too). Your blog is extremely beautiful and unique. I read all the entries to get inspiration for my own wedding, and I am glad our wedding can become someone else’s inspiration through Style Me Pretty too.
The biggest star of our wedding is Crystal of Distinct Occasions, she did not just help us pull everything together, and moreover, she was full of wacky ideas that really pushed my own creative boundaries.
Other vendors I really want to thank are DJ Mike Coombs, makeup artist GianLuca Orienti, Dina Alonzi and Lisa Van Hattem for the beautiful gowns, Carma of Celebration Shoes for customizing my hairpiece, DESIGN2DECOR for decor, Daniel et Daniel for catering, Konstadin for the cake (it was as yummy as it looks), and Jeremy Citron for marrying us.
The photos taken by Artage is absolute stunning, you can also check out our engagement Artage at their website: (http://www.artagepictures.com/index2.php?v=v1#/video/1/ )
Kate of (Floret Cadet): you will really hate my answer. Scott and I designed and made the cadet ourselves.
